Roster Next Year

I agree with @BoulderSooner on Alec Blair. Most/all projections had Blair rated in the top 75, and we are on pick 106 starting up again here in 30 minutes.

Highly doubtful that he would have already dropped approximately 30 spots with his size/skills for no reason.

Plus, slot money is currently about $725K, and it drops by $6K with every pick. Even if he is still pondering pro baseball, the financial incentives or advantages are diminishing pretty quickly in the NIL and revenue-sharing era.

Looks like he has every intent of being a Sooner.

Well I think we can all be pretty confident now that he is coming to OU.
They are into round 10 and nearly 300 picks
Yes, I think it’s pretty clear that once he didn’t go in the first 70-75 picks, his agents likely told teams not to waste a pick on him unless they were prepared to offer him second round money. Now the question becomes, will he be a factor for us this season? And, how will he ultimately handle the baseball/basketball split?

actually it is pretty clear his reps told teams that he was playing basketball so don't draft him ..

(not saying he would not have signed as a top15 pick . but he was never going that high) he was 52 ranked guy and mocked to higher on MLB.com

Eh, I think he would have been willing to take second round money. Like I posted last week, the guys who cover the draft as their man gig are very plugged in and tend to know what each high school kid is looking for. They had him as a 50/50 guy, so they obviously had intel that he would go in the right situation. Like you say, he was never going in the first round, so that leads me to believe that he was looking for the right deal/slot in the second round, and if that didn't happen, he would be happy to go to school.

His team has told OU he was coming to play both for a long time now and never wavered. And showed up when he was scheduled to.

So any thing else is thinking something that has never been said by his side.

Again, people say all sorts of things in a negotiation. Showing up to Norman in June wasn’t a guarantee he would not turn pro if drafted in a slot he was happy with. If a team had called him yesterday and said hey, we are thinking about drafting you at 55 and offering you well above slot, do you really think he would have turned that down? I follow baseball obsessively. I know who the good draft reporters are. Those guys know which players have legitimately ruled out signing because they are absolutely set on going to college. He was never mentioned in that category, which at the very least suggests he was open to signing in the right circumstance. Clearly, he was going to need to be blown away to turn down college, but I just don’t think it’s reality to suggest he wasn’t even keeping his options open.
