Running off players

It's good to know that as the first day of the 2015-16 athletic year, all athletic scholarships are for the full term of enrollment at Power 5 schools, so there won't be any incentive for coaches who misevaluated the value of a player to run them off. They'd get zero in return, just a smaller roster.

That may be what's happened at osu. Budke was famous for cleaning house each year of players he didn't think were going to cut the mustard. Littell probably saw this as his last chance to start over, so to speak, and helped move some out the door so he could restock. I think some left on their own after the assistant left (and also the commitment of Ramirez) but I think the others were advised to leave. I think this has happened with most coaches occasionally but I can't think of another Power 5 conference school that has lost as many players as osu has in the last 8-10 years (not voluntarily).
