Fears & the NBA Draft Projections

Who do you guys see going first: Fears or trae johnson. I think both will be nba stars
I don’t know if Fears will be a star in the NBA. He has too many holes in his game right now. He doesn’t shoot it well enough and he can’t play a lick of defense. BUT he’s very young and NBA teams love that.

All depends on the ping pong balls and how the picks slice out. If it is team that needs a PG, I could see Jerimiah getting picked ahead on a team that doesn't need a wing. With that said, if it is best player available, it would make sense to pick Johnson first.

NBA teams project 3pt shooting based on FT% and he’s elite in that category. I think getting to work with NBA shooting coaches will be amazing for him.

just for some perspective on how hard it is to get drafted ..

Caleb Love (who I don't love as a player) ..

just finished his career with these to stat line games

against oregon 29 9 and 4 on 10-18 5-7 and 4-4 played 37 min

and against duke 35 4 and 1 on 11-21 5-11 and 8-9 played 40 min

he is not in the ESPN top 100 prospects ..

because he will be 24 before the NBA season starts .. and he is not a great shooter

You may be right, Boulder, but I can't help thinking age is not the biggest reason Love is not a top-100 prospect. Buddy Hield turned 24 shortly after his NBA career started, and he was selected #6 overall. Austin Reaves was probably not much younger, and he's developed far better than anyone could have reasonably predicted.

The not a good shooter part is there also.

I never held out any hope he'd return, but man, it would have been nice.

Fears is up to #6 in the latest ESPN draft projection ..

6.

Jeremiah Fears, PG, Oklahoma
Freshman
| TS%: 57.0%

Fears emerged as a top freshman despite being one of the youngest players in college basketball (he turns 19 in October). His combination of size, speed, pace, shotmaking and shot creation gives him significant long-term upside, as he gets anywhere he wants on the floor, either to create opportunities for teammates while dishing on the move, to finish skillfully in the lane or to get to the free throw line.

The Nets have a significant void in their backcourt, and Fears' youth and talent could make him a player they'd want to closely study. -- Givony

What do i know, but other than flagg I wouldn’t take anyone ahead of him. Probably not for a couple years but I think he will be a superstar
