S. Carolina

Nice assumptions. No.

SC simply hasn't looked like a title team yet. They look more like the Rutgers teams, although you won't admit it. They have talent, but don't play up to that level yet. Neither does Baylor for that matter. With Griner and her AAU buddies, they won one title.

ND and UConn play smarter.

sybarite it's okay to like teams not named Sooners and players that play for schools other then OU....

I appreciate good quality teams. I love to watch Notre Dame and UConn play. I like to watch Iowa State play. I wonder what he might do if he could recruit to Ames.

But, I get very, very tired of some posters on this board who never seem to consider that we have had a good solid tradition, and that we do pretty well with the talent that we have. I am very, very tired of those who keep wishing that we had some recruit coming in---even putting down the players who have committed to us, like Dungee, saying that she'll never play. These same posters seem to ignore little comments by some scouts who, for example, said that Mulkey was a game-changer. Do we see praise for the fact that we are getting Mulkey? No, we have to lust after Holmes, Cox, or a half dozen others who are rated #1 or 2 by Prospect Nation.

We constantly see threads about some teams ability to recruit without any acknowledgement that we have a pretty good freshman this year, two highly-ranked freshmen next year, and a highly-ranked freshman the following year. What---they aren't worth celebrating because they are a bird in the hand rather than in the bush? I have difficulty telling the difference between Bay, GotMulk, and the supposed Sooner fans.

It is OK to celebrate our own success.

I "appreciate" good quality teams as well. And I love watching teams that build strong, consistently successful and NC caliber teams/programs with coaches that coach such as ND and UCONN. Just seems as though OU WBB would have continued to build NC caliber teams. Mediocrity and inconsistency has never been a good look, but if it works for you then stick with that. It won't change my opinion. Furthermore...don't come for me unless I call for you.

Remind me where we finished last year in the rankings. I'm not going to do much celebrating when the team cannot finish in the top 25. There is plenty of work to do in recruiting. Not having an elite camp isn't helping.

FURTHERMORE...we have not experienced "success" considering the goal is to win the NC each year (per SC), and that should be the goal each year.

n.
1. The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted: attributed their success in business to hard work.

So only one team had success last year. Pretty grim sport. How many teams had no success last year?

I'm sure there are some teams that experienced "success" last year. It depends on their stated goal. SC has stated that the goal for OU WBB each year is to win the NC. If she has recanted that statement, then I stand corrected.

So if Coach set her goals lower we would have a greater shot at success?

I'm rather curious. How many of you want a national title so much that you would:

1. Want a coach whose player (s?) have pulled the hair of opponents during an on-court fight?
2. Want a coach whose player (s?) have hit opponents players with a clenched fist during an on-court fight.
3. Want a coach who recruited that type of player, failed to discipline that type of player?
4. Has had an article (s) written about their illegal recruiting activities that stated that it was bad for women's basketball?
5. Has had players from each of her national title teams say negative things about her and the university's acceptance of their gay lifestyle?

Do you want a national title that badly?

When you know that this is what a school is like, do you wonder about the players who would want to go to that school? Do you not wonder what they are thinking?

I definitely agree that it's okay to celebrate our own success, when we've been successful. I feel that we were moderately successful last season. Before that, it would have to be 2010 since we've had a successful season, in my opinion. After all, all of the comments are based on individual perspectives (save for the info coming directly from statistics).

What baffles me the most is how a few select people can manage to talk down about up-and-coming programs and make comparisons that make little sense. If you're so focused on the success of OU, why make unwarranted comparisons about teams you dislike? After all, said team was far more "successful" than OU last year without question. Perhaps one should focus his/her time by celebrating the team's accomplishments. Better yet, don't comment on a thread entitled, "South Carolina."

Really? Of course not. But she/the program needs to do the very best to continue to build the program to compete for the NC...on a consistent basis. I doubt very seriously that Joe C./AD has sat down at the end of each year and said, "Hey SC...just do the best you can! Anything is better than what it was when you arrived. We don't necessarily want to compete for a NC EVERY YEAR, but if you can get us on the map every now and again...we'll be jumping for joy!" Has the program experienced some good and very good years? Absolutely! Do they have a good graduation rate? Appears that way. Have they built on the good years and sustained a high level program? No. Has there development of players been great? No, not overall...especially with post players. Do they compete with top notch recruiting programs consistently? No.

Geno better get his program in check! :ez-laugh:

Baylor is not the only program in the history of NCAA WBB to win a NC and/or have a consistent winning program. I'm sure EVERY program has its challenges with 17-22 year old young ladies. Some more publicized than others. And do you really want to go down the gay road? What's the difference in having a program where every player looks like anything other than your stereotypical lesbian (right down to makeup in the game), but they hide their decision to live openly as a lesbian until they leave Norman?
