Same Old Baylor

I'm really surprised. He seemed like such an intelligent guy. :)

Actually I always thought he was a juco guy for some reason. When I saw he was back this year and only a junior I was surprised.

Baylor's going to be really good next year. You boys be ready. The Bears are shoring up those deficiencies....

Versatile:

Bobo Morgan- C

Cory Jefferson- forward (redshirted- former 5 star recruit needed to gain weight. Came to Baylor at 6'9" 180 lbs. Now 6'9" 225lbs.

Quincy Acy- 6'7" forward (should be all conference type next year)

Quincy Miller- 6'10" forward; top 5 high school player; coming off knee surgery though. But a much higher motor than Perry Jones.

Anthony Jones- 6'10" forward (solid player will be a senior)

Deuce Bello- Guard/forward 6'4" rated the best all around athlete in 2011 recruiting class.

Brady Heslip- transfer from Boston College; 6'2" SG can drain them from deep; Tyrell Reed type

Gary Franklin- transfer from Cal; 6'2" combo guard- was averaging 8 ppg as a freshman at Cal before transferring.

AJ Walton- struggled running point; but defensive minded strong guard- JT Tiller mold; led big 12 in steals.

Stargell Love- athletic guard- missed half his freshman year with stress fracture in foot.

Player X- short, quick penetrating guard that will run point. High basketball IQ; strong defender; shoots well. He should sign soon.

I'm going on record of predicting Baylor back in the top 5 of the big 12 next year. I wasn't saying much last year because I saw the holes/deficiencies. They underachieved my expectations regardless, but they'll bounce back this year.

Are they getting a new coach or something?

they have a GREAT coach! That same coach led them to the elite 8 a year before. They had huge holes at guard last year. And a few low basketball IQ guys in the mix. But PG was their biggest problem. Not schemes or motivation. Hard to win with a turnover prone PG and only one legitimate perimeter threat- Dunn. With Franklin, Heslip and Player X, it will force defenses to defend the perimeter which will give Baylor's athletes more room to operate around the paint.

They'll be a force IF Quincy Miller's knee is sound and ready to go. If not, I retract everything I wrote :)

Is Player X being grown in some government lab right now to become the perfect point guard?

Athletic like Derrick Rose, shoots like Steve Nash, reads the court like Chris Paul, built like Magic Johnson?

he's short to deflect suspicion from some of the robotic enhancements. But cloning Chris Corchiani's brain was pure genius!

First, none of us on here will be playing against Baylor next year.

Second, I think we all understand that OU is going to have to scrap for every win it can get next year, given the roster we are bringing back.

Third, Baylor will always be Baylor. One day, you will look up, Scott Drew will be gone, there will be no championship trophies in the case, and you'll realize that your "glory days" are long gone.

maybe- I'm enough of a realist to not take for granted that Baylor will be a player in major college basketball. But right now the future looks bright for a few reasons:

1. Leadership at the university is strong. Ken Starr is a great President who is well connected. Ian McCaw is an ideal AD- he gets his coaches the necessary resources but prefers to be away from the limelight- no ego.

2. Scott Drew is a good fit for Baylor. If he has success the next few years, perhaps he will be tempted to leave. But in my mind it is for one reason that he would leave: realignment fears. Baylor has resources to pay him and as long as Baylor is aligned with a power conference, he will stay in my opinion. And the main guys on his staff have been with him 8 years. His dad was a lifer at Valpo- had many opportunities to move to "greener" pastures and chose not to.

3. Baylor has deep resources to support athletics right now. Drayton McLane is selling the Astros and will make a TBoone Pickens type gift to Baylor when he does. Bob Simpson- CEO of Cross Timbers- loves Baylor basketball. Jim Turner- former CEO of Dr Pepper bottling just recently sold his stake. He played basketball for Baylor and is a big donor to Baylor basketball. Mark Hurd- Oracle/ former HP CEO is also a supporter. Point is that Baylor is fortunate at this moment to have a few big hitters that like basketball. As long as the resources are there for facilities and the conference is stable, I think Drew stays and Baylor will be competing for big things.

Drew gets it that the best teams usually have the best players. And he's not afraid to go early and hard after the best players.

Mods, can you please change DFW's name to "Baylor Spin Zone"? TIA

truth about Baylor is that Udoh compensated for their utter lack of coaching/perimeter D and on ball skills by his shot blocking and presence in the lane. minus Udoh, they are the same top 150 recruits and Drew who missed the NCAA with Jerrells and Tweety Carter. Curtis Jerrells was a great college player (despite his missed FT in Norman).

and this year.

Lacedarious Dunn may lead the conference in scoring, but has nothing in overall effect in conference results. i never feared the guy would take over a game and win it.

he's a poor man's Ron Mercer in the NBA. i get my 25 on a crap team, we lose by 10 (the Mercer Principle). that said, they had a shot with Udoh to beat Duke last year. they had them on the ropes....down almost double digits most of the first half....but Coach K is Coach K and Scott Drew is Scott Drew.

You are right about one thing.....Scott Drew is a good fit for Baylor. Those two deserve one another.

Player X will let his name be printed just as soon as the check clears.

Just kiddin'!

Jeff Capel went to the Elite Eight two years ago.
And had an 8-3 record against Scott Drew.
He is clearly a great coach.

why the "player x" mystery game? you're talking about pierre jackson, you've posted the name on other boards.

Where are the powerpoints showing lace's girlfriends before and after photos?

and how lace's 3 games suspension was unfair.
