Scott Walker and John Doe Investigations

That is crazy stuff. If that article is even remotely true it is pretty frightening that a government could and would do that.

I don't know how much I would trust National Review but I don't trust your link at all. If the FBI were investigating Walker it would have to be for federal crimes. I believe the search warrants would be from a federal court not a state court. It would also be all over the national media. The man is running for President.

I also question any source that makes a comparison of one wrong allegation to another like this story does about cops shooting black people. The things are totally unrelated so there is no reason to include that kind of stuff other than to distract people from the real issue.

lol @ Scott Walker running for President. If only he could erase his record. Cut top tax rates totaling ~$2 billion claiming it would spur growth and pay for itself. Here we are a couple years later and guess what? Wisconsin is facing a $2+ billion budget shortfall that he's scrambling to fill by delaying debt payments and slashing funding for state universities, etc.

He has a 41% approval rating in his home state and trails Clinton by 12 points in Wisconsin in the latest poll. None of these GOP Governors who came to power in 2010 during the tea party off year hysteria elections are legit candidates. Their records are all the same, tax cuts, slow growth and exploding deficits. Just like W!! Did I mention he's a college drop out. lol

Rubio and Jeb are the only two guys who have even the slightest prayer. Jeb, because he rode the housing bubble up as Florida Governor and left office right before it crashed. And Rubio because he has no record.

I dont understand what idiots, R or D, would agree to a law like this "John Doe" thing they describe. Basically all that bill would do is scream "abuse me ... abuse me".

Of course - thats what happens when you let farmers and funeral directors and restaurant owners write legislation governing law enforcement.

Exactly. It is crazy and ripe for abuse. I have no clue if the story is true but a judge signing all those search warrants and what is described in the National Review is very wrong. Judges are supposed to protect citizens from bad searches not rubber stamp warrants. I realize they often rubber stamp warrants but not like described in the article.

As to Walker running for President, I have no clue if he has a chance but he is running and if he had the FBI investigating him it would be all over the news. In fact, he would probably already be out of the race.

The John Doe investigation/proceeding dates back to Wisconsin's territorially days, according to a Wisconsin law firm (Hurley, Burish & Stanton, S.C.), which has a page describing the John Doe law:

Then, this is from "A blog to record and convey the daily experiences of a Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge" / Hon. John J. DiMotto:

I have seen the law described in several articles as "a secret Grand Jury investigation, but without the jury."

According to the following article, "The process is foggy to some of the brightest legal minds in Wisconsin."

Biggest secret in John Doe may be just how judges and special prosecutors are selected
