Would not have done this until improvements had been made.

What is the buyout amount for OU? The contract length is window dressing for recruiting.

Well at lest any recruits in the next few classes will know who they are playing for if they pick OU... that goes a long way.

As we all knew, the ones in charge at OU couldn't care less about the ladies program

I agree with the above...............very disappointing. I would have thought they would have, at the least, given her a timetable to get the program turned around and headed back to the top.

Extending for one year does not make much sense relative to recruiting. It only means it is "presumed" that she will be the HC the four years for the class of 2019. And those players will need some time to adjust to college level competition and build chemistry with the ever changing lineups. They might move up 1-2 spots from the bottom of the conference IF they are fortunate. They are basically starting over from where they were when SC arrived; at the bottom. It takes time to build winning teams and others in the conference are much further ahead. And until OU is able to sign top 10-20 recruits on a consistent basis, develop players, build chemistry...all the things it takes to become a consistent winning program...it will be more of the same. We see it all over the NCAA season after season. Mediocrity at best. The powers that be only ensured SC will continue to make more than the productivity/outcomes/results are worth compared to her peers anywhere in the NCAA including her colleagues at OU. It appears they are happy paying her and playing to a few thousand with teams that can be beaten by some really good HS club teams. Why? If they are sleeping well at night with decisions made...then all is well in Norman.

Edit: And Geno should go ask for a raise.

FURTHERMORE...it seems that productivity and growth does not matter for WBB at OU (other sports seem to matter...ask Stoops). It appears they are more committed to the HC, for whatever reason. And if that is the case, it would have made more sense to extend her contract for at least another 8 years, reduce her salary and make it a bonus laden agreement. She's rewarded/compensated for a consistently declining program. Where else does that happen? Nowhere, well, except at the 5 year old YMCA league where everybody wins!

Extending her one season is at best a compromise.

If you are not going to resign her, then you need to extend her for recruiting purposes
OU did neither. Half measures generally tend to be mistakes in coaching evals.

The one season thing tells me OU is not all in for her rebuild effort.
Basically, another terrible season and she's retired.

I feel like just a one year extension says a lot. I think it says she's only got one more year left to turn things around after her usual contract expires. I mean, don't contracts usually get extended for multiple years? I think there's a bit of heat on SC and i think this is a good thing, it's a good kick in the rear end, which she desperately needed!

I really hope these new coaches and new enthusiasm and energy help us this upcoming season. It's just disappointing we didn't go out and get a good big girl to make an immediate impact for next season, big mistake IMO.
