Sherri Coale on James Hale

Missed the middle part. Good info here. Sherri loves Maddie and loves this team. I cant help but feel that we are going to be in good shape. For the first time in forever it looks like we will have some players that can penetrate.

I don't remember a mention of any freshman other than Gioya, and, of course, freshman part two, Maddie. I think she may have mentioned Shaya in conjunction with Kaylon.

She seemed most excited about Morgan, Aaryn, Griffin, Maddie, and Kornet. She mentioned Sharane, but it wasn't with the excitement of Kornet. She does seem to love Morgan and Nicole Griffin.

She wasn't as concerned about the ten-second rule, which she thought wouldn't make a difference as she was about the new interpretation of the rules. I think this was actually supposed to have happened last year in women's ball. It just didn't. But, she says it is serious, and we will have some slow games due to whistles.

I thought it was interesting that Sherri loaded up on guards at a time when the style of the game is switching. What did she know, and when did she know it? Depth at guard may be essential this year.

I thought it was interesting that she thought Maddie was the prototype of what she wanted for a point guard. She just has Morgan in that place right now. So, Maddie will play two and three, spelling Morgan. Does that surprise anyone? Maddie does bring something that Morgan doesn't. She can get over the forwards guarding the basket.

She really seemed to love Nicole Griffin and what she brings. I think this is where she mentioned Shaya, that Kaylon, Nicole Kornet, and Shaya were getting a chance to learn from someone who knew what it was all about. Didn't mention Felisha or Portia?

She did mention that we will be running several different types of sets tonight. We may operate without a five. We have some versatility in how we go about things. She is afraid to mention how healthy we are.

Maybe she didn't know it, but had no other choice after missing out on post prospects.

Thanks for the feedback, Syb. :-)

Sherri will be on The Franchise 107.7 at 5:45 just before the scrimmage starts.

Maddie just went down with other knee. YoYo carried her to locker. She's out.

T. Edwards was a wonder in this scrimmage, fast a heck and made some great passes. Carter not so much, Peyton is a player (too bad she will not be available until next year), Felisha Gibbs has potential, runs hard but needs some time. Kellogg is OK if they can get her to actually shoot the ball instead of just throwing it up on the glass or shooting threes which she can't hit. Derica Wyatt will play some and can shoot. All in all they looked much faster, much faster and played some good defense and made some good fast breaks. Looking forward to seeing how much they improve. Oh Griffin was steady and looked pretty good.

My thoughts on the scrimmage were pretty much the same. The scrimmage got a little ragged at times after both Morgan and Maddie went out...Edwards was the only point guard and Colton Coale played a lot after that. Watching Edwards I was surprised she wasn't more highly recruited...maybe really came on as a senior? Aaryn of course was the best player...and I liked what I saw of Nicole K playing the 4...though with Maddie hurt that will necessitate Nicole playing more on the wing.
