tonight. Even just then when we were down 4 and had the ball and looked totally confused instead of a time out and instruction she sat on her hands - Fail.

And she needs to quit kissing Bill's butt constantly. At mid court as an elbow review was going on and they are acting like best buddies laughing etc. I'm all for being friends and all BUT when you are making 1 MILLION per year, you COMPETE for the 40 minutes and you can hug later on by the locker rooms. I think Bill just still dominates Sherri almost every time.

And by the way, the refs let ISU playbully ball and beat the heck out of us IMO

I think this would be number 99 out of 99 things to bother me about this game.

Also, playing a physical team like ISU, is when a very short bench just kills you.

Well, doesn't bother you but it does me. Your team feeds off of how you lead and Ibelieve when they see that type of interaction it takes some of their competitive juices out of them.

And by the way, I could probably list another 25 issues with the way OU played tonight but not 99, LOL.

Ellenberg needs to quit jacking up the ball when she can't seem to hit the ocean while on the beach AND play some defense.

And once again, IF the refs let ISU play that phyiscal and not get called for the fouls, they will win a whole lot more games. So many times tonight Sherri should have asked them if OU's faces or chests fouled ISU's Elbow's.

I don't think it was Sherri getting out coached as much as it was ISU getting the calls. Shooting 20 more free throws then your opponent certainly helps.

I think a much bigger factor was the Clones front line (6-2, 6-3, and 6-7), all three who are agressive going inside. OU has two bigs and Campbell had a difficult time trying to deal with the third one. It's just a bad matchup for a team with so many injuries to OU's bigs.

That was defiantly a killer.

I can't remember the last time we were playing away from home and the home team had 4 starters foul out. The game against WVU in Norman was as big of a foul fest as I've ever seen and WVU only had 3 players foul out. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that Nicole escaped the game w/o any broken ribs from Poppins elbows.

This was a very strange game. If you had told me that we out shot and out rebounded ISU and held them to 3 made treys, I would have guessed we won big-time. Especially if you told me that we would hold Moody scoreless from the field.

I thought the difference was that Poppens and Christofferson got to shove people clear across the lane to get deep position before they got the ball. From my view at the game Griffin elevated her play on both ends of the floor tonight. McFarland got a lot junk rebounds but wasn't very effective either on offense or on-ball defense.

I disagree with Vinny in that I don't think it would help our cause any for Coach to act like a Mulkey.

Let's try to keep Mulkey out of at least one thread, can we?

We don't do well against physical teams most of the time and tonight was no different.

We can't have Jo being the non-factor she was and hope to win. I think Hook, if she can get open has got to start jacking up some more outside shots and Sherri needs to call some plays to get her open.

I never did say that I EVER want Sherri to act like that brat BUT sometimes she needs to take more of a stand for her team and "FIGHT" a little more.

I keep saying to my wife, that is the worst officiated game I have ever seen - but no another one comes up like tonight. What does it take for OU to get some home cooking against a team that shoves, elbows and hits players in the face time after time? I am totally discussed with the big 12 refs. But you know what I'll bet before the season is over we get another hosing from them.

It's awfully hard to fight for your guys when you can't disentangle them from the other coach. And, I know that sounds snarky, but I feel snarky after that game last night.

First, to each his own, but I don't think Sherri got outcoached last night. I thought some of the decision making by the girls could have been better in a couple spots.

Second, I think this ISU team is just a little better than us

Third and although we could have done a number of things better, I felt the difference in the game was ISU's work on the offensive glass. They got a bunch of second shots that made for successful possessions. They scored on their second opportunities on some possessions and they ended up getting a foul called on our girls on some of the second chance possessions.

Otherwise, I thought it was just a bunch of little things that resulted in a close loss (missed a few free throws, didn't shoot or missed some layups, and/or didn't get out of a couple shooters late). Jaz pased up wide open layups twice on possessions where we didn't subsequently score. Not sure what she was looking at or for.

Jo had her worst game of the year. But, kids are not going to have it every night. She has been playing great and I wouldn't beat her up over one game.

I thought the officiating was OK. They were the aggressors and got treated as such by the officials. That is how that usually works in my experiance.

Bottom line is that we lost a close one and just about anything could have altered the outcome. Sometimes, the difference between winning and losing can be the smallest things.

Since I didn't see the game, I can't comment on the specifics which you addressed but I sure agree with you on the comments that apply to basketball in general.

My uncle is a state champion women's high school coach in OK and Sherri recruits the wrong players according to him.

Sherri is also a state champion women's high school coach in OK, and she has also won the Big 12 a lot and gotten to the Final Four 3 times. Pretty good results for all those wrong players. Maybe she understands something he doesn't.

If you aren't willing to name who your uncle says she should recruit, you post is nothing more than background noise - annoying but of no significance..

There is a little town in SW Oklahoma called Rocky. The school barely kept its doors open, and a couple of other local towns were hoping that Rocky would be forced to consolidate with them. Rocky had two kids on the same team who became All-Americans at OCU, back when OCU was a dominant college basketball team and the All-College was the best of tournaments. Rocky even had a freshman who would also start for OCU. All of these future stars, two of which at least saw some time in the NBA, were on this little school's team. They beat some of the best big-school teams in the state. But, they never won a state title. Why? Because another little school actually had a coach, and his team beat Rocky twice. He did win two state titles in a row.

Then, there was this other little town in Western Oklahoma that had about a thousand people. This town had a team that still ran the single wing, and they were the most difficult team in the state to beat for several years. You would have thought that Thomas was a hotbed of breeding for football players. Clinton was #1 in 2A, and Thomas beat them. They beat all of the bigger schools in the area. But, was it that they had great athletes? Thomas had a coach who taught a system. Why was he able to beat bigger schools and other coaches so easily? Because he, unlike most of his peers, knew what he was doing.

When you look around the state at football and basketball teams that win every year, it isn't that they have all of the talent. It isn't that their little town breeds athletes. It's that they have the few coaches who actually know what they are doing, and they beet all of those who don't. Strangely enough, the ones who always seemed to want to tell how good they were happened to be the ones who lost to the ones who knew what they were doing, but tended to remain somewhat silent. Sure were a lot who didn't win every year.

Would the Rocky coach happen to be Raymond (Red) Miller? If so, he was inducted into the Okla Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2005. He also was a successful coach at Cameron University.
