...a member of the media on the national scene. He and I were riding back to the hotel from the Sprint Center last night. I asked him if he thought Capel would be fired. He said "Nope, it's not going to happen because of the buyout." He went on to say that he couldn't figure out how OU would ever be worried about the money, but that he was certain that he was getting another year. He was certainly not a Capel fan.

Now, you can call this rumor, and I realize that without me telling you who it was, it is not very easy to ascertain how much he might know. Regardless, I'm not going to say who it was. I'll pm Ada and tell him, but this was a casual conversation with someone I'll likely encounter again, so I'm not going to give his name on a public forum.
Personally, I don't know how much he knows, but the fact that he was so certain that the buyout was the reason for keeping him is what made me think he has connections with decent information. Then again, he may just be speculating like everyone else.
Cheers.

I am going to just assume that it was the ghost of Paul Harvey.

Why don't we just assume he's coming back until told otherwise by Joe C...If we want whats best for our program.

No one other than Joe C and a very few others know what is going to happen. Everyone else just has an opinion. Media guys, especially, have no special access to Joe C.

This is how it will go down. He and David B will make a decision. They might call a lawyer or Regent if they are concerned about something in the contract that might be an issue if they are considering a change. Then Joe C will tell Jeff. Then Joe C will tell everyone else in a press conference or some such method. He will not give some certain media outlet the scoop.

All of these guys are just making educated guesses. It doesn't mean they are right and it doesn't mean they are wrong. But they are guessing.
