Boulder, thanks for setting me straight on Sanders. I accept defeat in this disagreement. Sorry to put your fingers to work. I almost pulled out a winner with Erickson, but Cyd's numbers are comparable to better there.

Cyd: I take back everything I have ever said about replacing you.

all good i appreciate the discussion ..

Outstanding! Hope we win the last 2 games at Florida to help get to host a super regional.
OU can lose the next two games and they likely would still be the OVERALL #1 seed ..

there is no scenario where they fall out of the top 8 (really top 3)

If OU loses the next two games we are not the #1 overall seed. Because they will look at OU non-conference and be like who did they play…

Well that was an absolute crapper of a second game. Our backup pitching is absolutely atrocious on the road and that translates to maybe not being good enough in the postseason either. Actually, I don't believe we will win the SEC tournament. There, I said it.
Landry can't pitch every game and the others throw meatballs. We looked a little unconcerned at the plate too (besides Parker) as though they already know they are SEC regular season champs and are content. Otherwise how do you explain that we did worse against their reserve pictures than we did their top two yesterday? I hope we go out with some pride tomorrow and lay it on them. I don't like losing to Florida once, let alone back to back.

In the sec, the only pitch that is a strike is a meatball that can be hit out. Every other pitch is a ball. There literally isn’t a strike zone. 50% of pitches pulled over the plate by the catcher is called a strike no matter how far out. Umpires really need some training. Haven’t noticed it being biased against us. Across the board

OU really needed to win this game. The momentum would have been awesome.
They also need to win this series, badly.

Cowboy, you hit the nail squarely on the head. The SEC strike zone is comparable in size to a business card, and it's that way for both teams. I thought after watching that debacle that was the HPU's performance in the first game, things would surely be different in game two. Well, no; if anything it was worse.

And, by the way: this was not a sour grapes reaction to an OU loss. Florida outplayed us and deserved to win the game.

This team has exceeded my expectations. If you had told me prior to the season that we would have only one quality pitcher and Ella Parker would be hampered by injury most of the year, I would have predicted a middle-of-the-pack finish at best. A team with 10 freshmen and one senior starter won the SEC regular season championship. And don't try to tell me the SEC is happy about it. Some of the strike zones that Sam Landry faced were miniscule.

With our pitching problems, this team isn't built for postseason play. If we make it to a super regional and host, the NCAA will match us with a massively under-seeded team. Count on it.

Right on all counts, MsProud.

It just seems like this team's youth really shows on the road and they let the opposing teams fans and atmosphere get to them and they just look very tight and less than their best. I don't think it will affect our overall seed in the NCAA tourney but I do think how we preform in the SEC tourney could impact our seeding. Watching how inconsistent Landry was over the weekend and how less than good our backup arms were makes me pretty pessimistic about our chances of winning the SEC tourney.
I do think we can beat LSU, but going any further would mean Landry would probably have to pitch several games in a row, and I just don't think she's up for it. I really think our backup pitchers, especially Deal, are held accountable (ripped a new one back in the old days) by Roca and Gasso for their inconsistency. Gasso definitely was not happy after that performance, moving forward I sure hope pitching won't be an issue next season.

Don't disagree with most of that, either.

Team has greatly exceeded my expectations this year. Basically started over. I would never put anything past patty in a tournament setting. But i am worried our pitching isn’t championship caliber or at least championship caliber deep.

We may actually need a homecourt advantage this year.

Imo: our best hope is landry arm has no limits. And, she carries us through. Also, we don’t draw sec refs and get a normal strke zone

agreed. i'm just hoping that being at home and neutral sites helps our backup pitchers maintain their composure, because they are capable of helping but they've failed when they aren't in OKC and at Love's Field. We will see how the SEC tourney goes!
