Softball

Love how this team finds a way to respond offensively when facing a pitcher who is pitching her all-time best and we can't seem to figure her out. There's almost always someone who steps up and clears the bases with a bomb or a huge base hit. Last night it was Emerling. Next time it may be someone else. This team may be Patty's most potent offense ever (and that's saying a lot). And the pitching staff is starting to look solid. Berzon seems to be coming around; she pitched a really good game last night. If that continues, our pitching will be good enough to compete against the other top tier teams in the SEC.

Anybody else notice that Alani makes more errors in every game than she made all of last season together. She literally can't catch a ground ball now. Got a boyfriend or what? Probably lucky that Nelly got hurt, because I think Barker would be playing second at this point.

Offensively, this is Patty's best team or at least one of her best, it appears. I say "it appears" because her Coleman class teams that won 4 titles in a row, were elite offensively in the post season and how this team will fare can't be known at this time. The power on this team, particularly the freshmen, is something to behold.

This year it is K. Wells, but I think we will see A Parker and maybe Daniels also be home run monsters before they are done.

BTW, wait until you get to see the Goose Hutchins kid next year. Simply unreal. She may be better than anyone in this class and that is saying something. She may be the best high school softball player that has ever played in Oklahoma. Maybe anywhere.

Maybe she has a family member who is seriously ill! Maybe she’s not feeling 100%! Geez!

She's made a couple of errors. But "more errors in every game that she made all of last season?" That's a little much, don't you think?

You guys took my comments about Alani too seriously. Just trying to be funny. Although, she has made several errors this year on what looked like routine ground balls.

She committed two (costly) errors last night, bringing her season total in 34 games to 4.

Either this LSU girl is throwing phenomenally or our bats just flat out suck today. We're getting little dingers on the infield to get on base occasionally but no one's even gotten into the outfield, except all of the pop-ups we've had.... Left two girls stranded on base with one out in the fifth inning which will probably be the closest we get to scoring today. Advice to any of our opponents, all you need is a halfway decent drop ball picture to shut this team out...

Okay we've got one girl on base with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and Lowry intentionally walked another girl to put two on base with two outs and then they pulled her and put Gauchino in... Certainly hope this next batter is not one of those she gives up a home run to, let's go!!

And sure enough she gives up a run. Now they're either going to walk it off or take it to extras...

Sooners won, 3-2 in extras...

By far our best game on the mound and at the plate especially. Hope we come out tomorrow looking better! I think if LSU had left their starting pitcher in instead of pulling her in the 7th we would have lost that game but I'm glad they didn't!

She just did a great job. Kept the ball down, got ahead in the count, & most importantly, didn’t walk a batter all night. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap. The gals were very fortunate tonight, especially with the way LSU flat butchered that rundown situation that loaded the bases for Wells’ blooper.

Well we are down 0-1 again going into the bottom of the third. I cannot believe Pickering is 0-7 in this series now.... Something is going on with her this weekend. I know she's good on a normal basis but if she's struggling this much maybe swap her out for someone else at least one ab, is that possible?

Well going into the 5th now without a single hit from this mighty batting lineup of hours. I didn't catch the run that LSU was able to score apparently it was all on account of Parker walking batters and then a sacrifice fly bringing her in? You got to think at one point we will get a hold of one of these pitches!

Update two run Homer is delivered now we are down big 0-3 and counting

Fire Gasso, I guess.

I think some of our hitters are struggling because this is the first time OU has faced top level pitching. On the other hand, LSU has gone up against strong pitching because they've played a tougher schedule than us. We just need to make some adjustments and I have confidence in J.T. to do this.

Yeah I think it's the first time they faced a solid staff. Now Pickering is 0-8 over the last two games. I don't know when that has happened, if ever. That says a lot about how soft our schedule was up until now I suppose?

Guarantee if we end up losing this game the pollsters that hate OU are going to drop us massively in the polls. Not that it really matters I suppose..
