Some thoughts on today's game.....

I didn't like that some negatives were being pointed out unnecessarily when just about all players had some negative plays.

:facepalm

It's my thread. I can point out whatever positives and negatives I want. What I posted above is what stood out to ME. Nothing more, nothing less. There were plenty of positives and negatives I didn't talk about. It wasn't an all-inclusive list.

If you don't like what I posted, start your own thread, and post what I "left out."

Sheesh.

Ridiculous how people hijack positives threads and/or talk to each after 1 exhibition game.

What is your problem? I'm agreeing with a statement you made. I've made myself clear from the start of all this. I don't think our starting lineup or rotation is set. Like you said...fluid. No sermons from me.

"Preaching" was your terminology.

Let me see if I have this straight. If someone puts in alittle time, effort, and thought into an observation/opinion piece, anyone that might take exception, should move along and start their own thread to air a different opinion.

That is exactly what you are saying isn't it? I can not possibly be confused on this point can I? I'll read your post again. Yep. That is what you are saying. Well, if you had the courtesy to do just that. This last 10 day flareup wouldn't have gotten so far out of hand.

What would like me to say then, Gary? I agreed with something you said and you come after me. Really what?

I didn't think you were agreeing with me. I said starters and rotatations were fluid. But, that it was like a river. It was going in one direction away from the status quo toward something different. My opinion is that I don't know what the end result will be, but, my opinion also is that I know what it won't be.

I doubt that you are agreeing with that. It's OK if you don't. And it is also OK with me if we are still looking for common ground on this point.

I agree with everything you said then and now. I think there will be changes but I believe Kruger knows what he would like to see. If that makes it a river or whatever, I'm ready to row. Not sure exactly what that means...but I agree with, which isn't always easy.

1. I did not like this 5 on and 5 off rotation. We are not that deep of a team. I hope that was just a exhibition type of thing b/c its going to hurt us big time going forward. We didn't even put Washburn away.

2. Bringing Fitz off the bench looks to me like a big mistake. He needs to get going early. He's a player that can get hot fast and I think coming off the bench is going to prevent that...and last night, I think it showed. 5 pts in 17mins.

Hopefully we can get a clearer picture weds. on what team Kruger is going to use.

Some of you guys really need to relax. It's an exhibition game! Coach K can play his players however he choses... He gets paid to do this and the rest of us don't.

1. That 5 on 5 off was ugly wasn't it. There is no reason to think that is any kind of plan or strategy going forward.

2. Fitz probably should play early and often. But, should he play first and more often than Osby or M'Baye?

Osby wasn't all that productive either. The guards got caught up in a 3 pt. shooting contest. Kruger said after the game that he was going to spend the next 3 weeks teaching them how to pass it inside.

Yeah I'm sure the 5 subs at a time will only be used for the 2 exhibition games. And if he does this for the next one I bet we see a different 1st and 2nd teams so Kruger can see how different lineups play with each other.

I may be wrong on this, but didn't Lon have a lot of experimental type stuff in last year's exhibition games? The dude knows what he's doing. To qusti

I thought the team played exactly like they practiced. They all just passed the ball around and then took a jump shot.

I think we are going 10 deep with Neal getting the lesser minutes among the 10.

If you look at the last two years Kruger was at Las Vegas:

His next to last year 11 players played 10 minutes or more with only 3 playing more than 25 and no one over 30.

In his last year 9 played 11.7 minutes or more with one over 30 and 3 others over 25.

His style is pressure defense and up tempo offense. He has to have a lot of bodys to sustain that style over 40 minutes.

If this years newcomers are any indication he is not going to bring in many players who cannot play. Bennett would be an upgrade over Neal who seems to have some abilities but is all thumbs and tight when he gets his opportunities.

He is building a roster that will allow him to play his preferred style.

I think you will see Fitz and Clark off the bench early with Osby or M'Baye going out and either Cousins or Hornbeak, whichever is playing the poorest. If Cousins goes out Hornbeak will move to the point rather than bringing in Grooms. Next in will be Heild in place of Pledger and the big that went out to replace the other one who started. Then Grooms will replace Hornbeak and Fitz will be replaced by the starting big that is on the bench. Neal will get incidental minutes from time to time. Cousins or Hornbeak will get back in for someone as well.

Clark and Grooms can upgrade their status when they start making open shots and when Clark develops more of a mid-range and inside game. Don't be too suprised to see Clark playing inside some as the season goes along.

I think Kruger is a fair man and anyone who ups their performance level will get more minutes but I think we are done with the guys who will play 35+ minutes and probably 33+ minutes.

That was really good and it could certainly work out just that way. And I too think that Kruger is fair and really doesn't care who starts or how many minutes they get.

The freshmen guards could either advance or retreat alittle from your scenerio depending on how fast they improve or regress. And I really do believe that in the case of close to equall performance, Kruger's recruits win ties. Good stuff. Thanks

I don't care who was out there, that was way too many turnovers.

I really hope Hield or Cam starts at the third guard spot bc both played tough defense and they helped rebound.

Clark, playing the 3 and 4 last year, averaged less than one full rebound per game over Pledger, who played the 2 almost exclusively.

That was last year. Cam is bigger, stronger this year and he seemed more confident when going after the ball. If OU is going to have any chance of being a good rebounding team they're going to need a bigger, stronger, quicker player at that position or a player that is willing to go get rebounds.
