AJ is playing in Lebanon again this year. He had a double-double in his last game, with 40 points and 11 assists. Here's the write up on the game as well as his stats for the season so far:

24-year old guard Austin Johnson (191-G-87) put on an amazing game in the last round for Moutahed and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 14 (Second Stage).
He got a double-double of 40 points and 11 assists, while his team crushed Byblos (#6, 10-19) with 23-point margin 127-104. Moutahed maintains the 5th position in Lebanese league. Moutahed is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 16th lost game this season out of 29 games. In the team's last game Johnson had a remarkable 90.9% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. It's his second year at Moutahed and it's hard to imagine this team without him. The University of Oklahoma graduate has very impressive stats this year. Johnson is in league's top in points (6th best: 23.2ppg), assists (3rd best: 6.3apg) and averages solid 2.7spg and 54.4% FGP.

I think AJ could have been a great player if he had been healthy at OU. I always liked him as a player.

I read an article a few weeks ago where AJ was quoted after a teammate scored well over 100 points in a game. Hit something like 30 3's. The numbers were absurd. I'll have to try to find the article again.

Anyway, not trying to minimize AJ's accomplishments. Just a strange footnote.

Thanks for the news!!

The Sooners won a lot of games with AJ at point guard.

When you look at what AJ could do physically in HS vs. what he was able to do in college, you'd have a hard time convincing me it was the same guy. Very explosive in HS, saw glimpses of it when he was healthy in college...dunk vs. aTm I think during his Junior year was pretty fantastic.
