You aren't worried about a thing today!! Keep chillin', lol

I've got plenty of worries on my plate, but I just learned long ago that the voters pay so little attention to the details of a team's week that one really can't get worked up over the media rankings. The people who do follow these things very closely (like the Committee) know we're a really solid basketball team. Those worried about highlights on Sportscenter and scores on the bottom line are just positioning their evenings to be filled with needless angst.

I don't give two flips about the Marcus Smart deal. I was in the Mont Saturday night when he went into the stands, and I came very close to buying the entire restaurant a round of Swirls following O-State's loss, but the needless analysis over what he said or she said (I know what it's like to be dead) is enough to make a grown man yearn for simpler times. Did you know that he's been prone to bits of flopping? Well, no ****. God, who cares?

Travis Ford. Who cares?

In the meantime, all five of our starters average over 10.6 points a game.
EIGHT different players have scored nine or more points in a conference game.

We are going to be one tough out. There's a lot of personnel to try and corral.

Thank you. Very, VERY, pleased she looks like her mother.

Love the first two paragraphs. Looks like you have "found your touch" again. That's a shamless hint in case you missed it. ;)

I agree that we spend way too much board space on Marcus Smart and Travis Ford. I'm as guilty as anyone. Count me in. It is indeed time to get back to more important matters, like talking about one of the best teams in the Big 12 this season, and a group of young men and coaches any school in the country would be proud of.

Great post! Nothing new for you I might add.

Since you didn't say anything about the Blake and Bieber scandal I assume you are as worried about that as the rest of us, right? :ez-laugh:

I hear ya man, your replies to each thread made me laugh, thought I'd have a little fun with it.

Does she like basketball yet? My daughter used to say "basketball" for every sport on TV, even when it was OU football

I got you. I should've made more of an effort to know I wrote my original post with a smile on my face.

The whaling and gnashing of teeth over the rankings annoys me quite a bit because when you do a little research you'll realize they're simply not an indicator of your positioning for what truly matters: the NCAA Tournament.

I'll submit as Exhibit "A" our 2008 team.

Record entering NCAA Tournament: 22-11
Conference record: 9-7 (4th)
Big 12 Tournament: 1-1
Weeks spent ranked: 0
Double-digit losses: 8 (five of them by 14 or more)
NCAA seed: 6

So we're tabbed as one of the top 24 teams in the country for the NCAA Tournament even though we're never ranked and we get our butts handed to us 25% of the time we take the floor. We enter the NCAA Tournament fresh off a 28-point pasting at the hands of Texas, which followed a 54-49 win over Colorado in one of the worst basketball games I've ever had the misfortune of sitting through.

In other words, rankings by pollsters who may or may not watch the game HAVE NO BEARING on NCAA Tournament seeding.

I now submit our 2002 juggernaut as Exhibit "B".

Record entering NCAA Tournament: 27-4
Conference record: 13-3 (2nd)
Big 12 Tournament: 3-0
Months spent ranked in Top 6: 2
Double-digit losses: 2
Rank in Polls After Big 12 Tourney Title: 3
NCAA seed: 2
Destination: Atlanta

Media polls don't matter, people. If you're watching Sportscenter for NCAA highlights of ranked teams you better get ready to wade through lots of Richard Sherman, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, some homosexual defensive end from Missouri and the nickname brou-ha-ha of the Washington Redskins. It could be a long wait. I will not be joining you in that endeavor.

But I can be found inside the Lloyd Noble Center tomorrow night. How about the rest of you?

She does "seem" to enjoy it. I take her to most games, but that's basically the deal I made with her mother. Her first foray into the pronunciation of the sport was essentially "sack and balls", so I've been working on getting away from that. We're at "sacketball" now, which is close enough for her old man.
