I have not seen a post by Norm in 3 weeks or so. Does anyone know if he is ill or what is going on. He is one of the most knowledgable and balanced posters we have. I know almost all of us miss him. I sure do.

So of the posters who post here can run people off...

I assume you meant "Some of the posters…"

So, is that what happened with Norm? Norm and I seldom agree on matters pertaining to the Sooners in general and Sherri in particular. I would not call Norm's posts "balanced," but still I respect him as a poster and fellow board member. His recent absence from the board discussions has me concerned about him.

Norm never seemed that thin skinned to me.

But, that was about the time Baylor's trouble bubbled to the surface. Maybe he's in mourning.

Norm has taken a couple of vacations from the boards before. Since he has about twice as many posts as the #5 poster, I hardly think he is gone.

Well, if that's the case, then I'd say its equally nice for the board to have a vacation from Norm. :ez-laugh::ez-laugh::ez-laugh:

Maybe he's on a cruise. WIFI is waaayyyyyy to expensive in cruises!

Norm is fine. He is taking a break from the board. Didn't say it was permanent or give any reason for the break but I do not expect him back soon. The amount of research to start as many threads as he started is extremely time consuming and can even wear out a young man.

Thanks! Glad he is ok.

With the season starting soon, does anyone know if Norm will be back? The board is not the same without him. He is the best poster we have, JMHO.

Norm porlly won't be back, and I don't blame him... on this board it's hard to find a balance between what can be said about the program and what shouldn't be said... I think its unfair that some of you feel like because post A likes another school that poster shouldn't be posting here...

Agreed

Norm is a thoughtful poster. Not everyone will miss him, but I will.
Has he jumped to any other board?

If SoonerNorm is indeed gone for good, posters on this board lost the best friend they ever had. This forum would not exist if it wasn't for Norm.

A little history if I may. I was involved in the planning of this site sometime before OUHoops.com was launched in October, 2008. I can tell you for sure that this board was never part of the plan. Some of the admins we brought on later were even opposed to it. Norm lobbied for a women's forum from the time he joined the staff in November, 2008.

Ask MsProudSooner, she was an admin back then as well. She also added her voice to what Norm was asking us to do. When an agreement was reached to include a women's forum, they worked together to attract members and to make this board what it is now. It may not be much, but it's better than no board at all, which is exactly what women's basketball fans would have had if Norm had not gone to bat for them. I should add that admins on this fan board are not paid to do their "job." They do it for free, so people like you can have a place to discuss basketball.

Norm has worked tirelessly the past eight years to do what he can to keep peace over here, and to start new threads about recruiting and other topics of interest. I have no idea who is going to do that now? One thing I know for sure, it's not going to be me!

I'm not here often enough to be familiar with the politics that is all too typical of every fan board I have been on the past fifteen years or more. My guess is some of you know the story behind Norm's departure. But, based on what I know about the man and the poster who calls himself "SoonerNorm," anyone who may have played a role in chasing him off should be ashamed of yourself! I have a feeling you will realize at some future date that his contribution to this board is irreplaceable. I will definitely miss him!

Thanks for posting this. Most everyone on here know the know it alls who wanted Norm gone.

For me Norm was and incredible voice of knowledge. I remember when I first started posting here, He and Sooner Spock were the first to greet me as a new poster. I am still amazed at the information he posted and know the time he had invested. I wish him well, he was a fantastic asset to this board. He will be missed.
