Do you ever get tired of beating that drum? There are lots of really good defensive teams that don't even sniff the NCAA Tournament. We may have been a good defensive team in the Big XII but that is not to say we were a good defensive team. Between two good teams, the team with the better defense wins. We allowed more points against than any other team in the Big XII. Not a good sign.

We played the fastest tempo in the conference, the main reason we allowed more points than other teams. We had the 3rd best adjusted defense in the conference, behind only Kansas and West Virginia, and the 18th best adjusted defense in the country.
It is simply not accurate to continue with this fiction that we are not good defensively. Argue, if you want, that there are things we could do better. There certainly are. And we were dreadful defensively last night. But this team was a very good defensive team all year, and the facts bear that out.

I agree we were really underrated defensively this year. And that our pace of play leads to that conclusion for many... The problem I have is our allowance of dribble penetration... When we were at our best this season and in the tourney, we denied easy drives to the basket. That's where we must get better defensively...

OU is never going to be a great defensive team statistically as long as they play the style they are employing.
I appreciate their optimism but I think they are underestimating the value of Cousins and Hield. If that's possible. Not to mention, no one on the roster has shown the ability to do anything like what Spangler can do - aka, rebound.
I think Woodard is good enough to get us over .500 next year and I think James will be close to a 15 ppg guy.
