Sounds like Capel believes he has Guerrero in the bag?

In the broadcast today, the guy doing color commentary (not the PBP guy Holthus) said Capel told him he had a (trying to remember exactly what was said) "good point guard in the fold", some phrase like this that sounded like Capel expects to get Guerrero. Or, are we recruiting another PG besides CG?

I believe we lead for Guerreo, I'm not sure if there is another school showing him as much interest. I think Cezar is OU's to lose, just my 2 cents after reading multiple articles on Cezar.

I hope you're right. Blair has come a long way in the last few games. He was solid down the stretch today. But his turnovers at crucial times of the game and his lack of lateral quickness on defense worries me. He'll be a really good back up to someone like Guererro. I'm just not sure he can be a dependable starter at this level?

Don't forget his poor decision making in fouling late in the game when we want the clock to run.

Having said that, I thought all in all, he played pretty well. Making those FT's sure helped his performance, though.

...the guy doing color commentary...

Who was that guy, anyway? Is he angling for a coaching job or something? I understand that analysts will generally be positive about the people they are covering, but his lavish praise was so over-the-top it was ridiculous. I thought he was going to nominate Capel and Boyle for the Nobel Peace Prize there for a minute.

Agreed. And I think he can generally improve on limiting his turnovers simply with more experience, but one can't drastically improve their lateral quickness. That's just an inherent trait that Blair somewhat lacks.

:ez-laugh:

Steven something...didn't catch the last name.

When I turned the game on, OU was leading 10-7 and for the next 10 minutes, it was a CU lovefest. All they talked about was the coach at CU, Burks, the frosh player, Higgins, etc. I wondered if Studio 66 piped in the CU PBP and color guy it was so bad.

I think the fouling comes from being exhausted from playing almost the entire game.

I believe Blair will improve a lot between now and next season. We need a solid backup PG and if we land Guerrero...I believe that we will have that b/c Blair won't make it easy for Guerrero to get that starting spot.

Stephen Howard.....Not 100% sure but I think he played at DePaul or Illinois.

He also insinuated the same thing about Terrence Jones on twitter last year during the early signing period. Hope he's right this time though.

This!!

We're not competing with Kentucky and his local school (ucla isn't after him as much as Washington was to Jones) this time. Better chances.

When a player signs on the dotted line(that's in the bag,at least for a year)anything other than that is hearsay!!Go Sooners!!!!!!:facepalm

Even recruits who sign on the dotted line aren't necessarily a sure thing. Remember the "Three Amigos" OU signed in Capel's first season? I'm always hopeful things will work out. But I usally wait until our signees are qualified and enrolled in school before I breathe a sigh of relief.

I can't belIeve peoPle are so excited about a kid that was headed to WKU. My how times have changed. We have to go all the way to CA to get a kid so good he wad going to be a hilltopper. No wonder everyone is excited we beat CU and Tech.

This program is a sinking ship.

To be fair, WKU used to be a pretty good basketball program even though they are in the Sunbelt. I believe they made the sweet 16 a few years back and beat an undefeated or once beaten Drake ballclub who was pretty good.

Also, somebody here has mentioned he was going to WKU because some of the bigger schools had backed off of him due to something personal. The same poster mentioned Guerrero had gotten his life in order and was now headed down the right track so bigger schools are now calling. Who knows how accurate any of this is, but somebody posted back a few months ago when we started hearing CG's name tossed about.

The fact he was committed to WKU doesn't bother me as much as his background problems, personally. The last thing we need is another highly recruited flame-out.

I did not know that about Guerrero. Like you, character issues are a concern for me too, especially since Capel is not known as a disciplinarian. Last year is proof.
