Anyone get a chance to see/hear some of this? Thought some of the comments were pretty interesting.

?: Bob, could you see Oklahoma in a Pac-16 without Texas?

Stoops: Sure. (silence) Why not? (some audience laughter).

?: If you weren't in a conference with them [Texas] would you want to keep the Dallas game going?

Stoops: Oh, I don't think it's necessary. I know noone wants to hear that but life changes...if it changes you gotta change with it...If it works, great-I love that game, but if it doesn't, it doesn't.

I love his matter of fact manner of speaking while at the same time his words and phrasing is loaded. The whole things up at soonersports.com.

I think -- I hope -- the above is a bit of gamesmanship and posturing. I don't much care if we're in the same conference as texas, but I darned sure want the OU-texas game to continue. And I have to believe Coach Stoops does, too.

I'm with you. And it's hard for me to believe Stoops wouldn't want the rivalry to continue, either.

I think his statement was perfect and helps contradict the flawed perception out there that OU is trying to stay attached to Texas: Sure, it'd be great if the rivalry continued, but OU would thrive with or without the RRS.

He's trying to gain the upper hand and tell Texas that we can live without them. No matter what, I believe that OU, OSU, and Texas will stick together.

How about this. If OU goes into what beomes the Pac 16 without Texas, how may conference games will they play?

Will it be just be 7 divisional games and then teams can go out and find 5 non coference oppenents? In that case there will be plenty of room for Texas. Or will it be 7 div. games and then 4 against teams in the other div.? No room for Texas with that setup.

I've always believed Texas needs OU more than OU needs Texas, as far as the football rivalry goes. Having said that, I still salivate at the thought of applying a hiney-whippin' to Mack and his team every year at the Cotton Bowl. While I don't NEED the Texas game to boost my self-esteem, a yearly beatdown of the steers sure makes life more enjoyable.

Can't imagine Bob doesn't enjoy it as well.
