Talent additions next year

Just throwing it out there, what if the Tulsa head coach gets fired, which is a good possibility, what about OU looking at grabbing D'andre Wright? I know it's crazy, but hey, you never know...

I think predicting a top 4 finish next year is a little much. Is a 3rd or 4th place finish possible? Without looking at what the other teams are losing and bringing in, I'd say maybe.

And something to keep in mind on M'Baye. Unless he can play the 3, and LK will play him there, if he is putting up 15 points per game, that means Osby or Fitz is averaging less as well. Meaning, we're getting pretty good production out of our starting 4 and 5. Where we really need better production is from the guard spots. So unless M'Baye starts at the 3, we aren't simply adding 15 ppg to our lineup, if that makes sense. If M'Baye were a true guard of the same talent level, I'd be a lot more optimistic about next season.

If M'baye is as good as being reported then I hope he starts at the 4 and Osby starts at 5. Bring Fitz off the bench in the same role as Newell was in and just let him score because that's just about all he does anyways. Let M'Baye play the 3/4, Osby 4/5 and Fitz the 5. Fitz 15 and 4 off the bench is great and he brings experience too.

OU becomes better defensively, rebounding, more athletic and will probably have better ball movement.

We will be better next year but, until we significantly upgrade our backcourt we will not get back to an elite level......top 25. I look for that to happen the year after next if we sign the class we want.

But that is going to happen. Hield and Hornbeak are both good players. These guys are coming to OU to play in the backcourt and score points. They are not true points that are coming to play like Grooms or guys like Jurick at OSU that is a defensive presence. They are coming because they are talented scorers. They will give Kruger options he simply doesn't have this year. Next season Kruger is going to have three more guys on his bench that can score points.

I understand what your saying. I'm not counting on them being life savers their first year though. I'm giving them a year to learn and settle. Then hopefully the following year we get Woodard and Parker. Those four would be the upgrade I'm talking about. The only guards I can think of recently that have come to OU and produced their first year as expected are WW and Mason-Griffin......neither of which I would call the difference makers we hoped they'd be.

So you would rather have two freshman (Woodard and Parker) and two Sophomores (Hield and Hornbeak) over Pledger, Blair, and Grooms as seniors and Hield and Hornbeak as freshman?

I will take three experienced seniors and two freshman over two inexperienced sophomores and two freshman. Hield and Hornbeak are not likely to play huge minutes next season. Hopefully they will get 10ish a game but Pledger and Grooms are going to play 30 minutes a game.

Perspective Denver. How good were Pledger, Blair and Grooms as freshmen? That's what I expect from Hield and Hornbeak as well as Woodard and Parker. I expect our seniors will be better next year but, they were not the talents when they came to OU that we had hoped and still aren't IMO! Even Cam has failed to live up to expectations and he is more talented than any of our other guards.....again that's my opinion.

I want a awesome PG like a Mookie or CP3. A big that can catch the ball on the low post and turn and shoot over his defender with great success. After that, everything else will fall into place.

Pledger made a nice contribution as a freshman. So did Cam Clark and Tony Crocker. These guys will make nice contributions to the team and most importantly they will make it to where OU does not have to play Pledger 36 minutes a game. It is fine for a coach to play a kid 36 minutes a game if that is what he wants to do but it is tough when the coach has no choice.
