How do we know this?

Well NIL makes it legal to pay players now and programs like ku and osu were caught by the fbi for paying players when it wasn’t legal. Texas pays millions annually to their football team, you think they didn’t pay anything to their #1 transfer class in hoops? And no 5 star is going to Lubbock or waco to play at a nobody programs (like tech/baylor were before beard/drew got there) without being paid.

Hey, I was saying Beard was dirty at Tech years ago, when everyone was talking about what a great coach he was. (I had no inside info whatsoever--just a strong hunch).

But we still don't know whether those programs are paying more than OU would or could. texas has been getting strong recruits for years--maybe they've been paying them all along, but we don't know that.

All I'm saying is we don't know the specifics of anyone's NIL, including OU's--especially oswho, who beat our sorry asses three times but haven't exactly been lighting it up in recent years. You stated it as a fact that they're outspending us, but there doesn't seem to be any actual proof.

If our NIL is lacking, we're in trouble, since the university can't be involved in that. Which wealthy donors are going to be lining up to pony up any time soon with our performance under Moser?

Drew has made bu into a power… they won the nc 2 years ago. Kids want to win.

Not saying they don’t pay or didn’t, but if I’m Bball guy and it’s ku/bu vs ou…. In recruitment… it’s not even a choice

This dude is a titty baby likely imo, we need mentally tough players

With the exception of maybe Capel, I'm not sure any coach we've ever had could have convinced OU donors to pony up for basketball.

It would certainly be a challenge, but I think Tubbs could have. Sampson, maybe, late in his time at OU, once fans became accustomed to the fact that he wasn't the second coming of Tubbs. Kruger, perhaps, after the Sweet 16 or Final Four seasons (but he'd have had to act quickly).

And maybe in five years, Moser will have the program flying high and be in a position to do so, but his emphasis on pushing it now, while the team is as bad as any OU hoops squad in the last 40 years, is ill-timed, to put it mildly. If he has some kind of rock-solid assurance from Joe C. that he's locked in for a minimum of five more years, then maybe he can get away with it but barring that, I would encourage him to zip it and focus on improving the level of talent (and perhaps his approach to coaching).
