Team of the Week: Oklahoma Sooners
When the Sooners got word Wednesday afternoon that their flight to play Baylor suddenly had been canceled, they loaded the bus and drove to Waco, Texas. The start time was delayed a half-hour; Oklahoma arrived, warmed up for just 15 minutes, then beat the Bears for the second time this season 78-77.
Then Saturday, the Sooners found themselves down by seven with just over 2½ minutes left against a West Virginia team that was playing one of its best games of the season. It was Oklahoma's Play 4Kay day. Sooners guard Taylor Robertson -- who dedicates this game each year to her late father, who died of cancer while she was in high school -- was fouled on a 3-point attempt and made all three free throws to tie the score and send the game to overtime.
The Sooners trailed by as many as five in the first extra period but managed to get the game to a second overtime. Oklahoma then won 101-99 on Madi Williams' layup at the end of the second OT. Robertson played all 50 minutes and finished with a game-high 26 points. Both victories helped the Sooners keep pace with Iowa State for first place in the Big 12.
