Ken Pom currently rates us as the 9th fastest team in America. Interesting...wonder how long we can keep it up with our rotation.

Through six games, our scoring average has increased a whopping 20 points over the first six games last year, from right at 67 ppg to a little more than 87ppg.

I'm sure our average will go down some as we face better competition and better defenses. But Coach Kruger said he wanted to play fast, and he meant it.

Can we continue to play at that pace? Good question. I think that will depend on OU's ability to control the tempo, and if LK is comfortable with going 9 or 10 deep as we get into the conference portion of our schedule. If he only has 7 or 8 players he can rely on, it will obviously be more difficult to get the ball out and run on every possession.

At this point, I have no doubt we'll be faster for the year than we were last year, when it's all said and done. I wasn't sure there would be a noticeable difference, but I think there will be.

That said, we were pretty fast last OOC too, only to have conference play grind that to a halt. To a lesser extent, I still expect the same thing to happen. It'll be interesting to see how our style changes against Big 12 competition.

One other thing too, I think the new rules make for a faster paced game. So everybody should be a little faster this year (or most teams). But we will certainly rank higher in terms of team ranking in tempo this year, as opposed to last year.
