Texas - Arkansas

Once again, it wasn't one game. I had seen a little of Wilson. But, I saw the complete two games of the state semi-finals and finals as well as what effect the other team's varied talents had upon Wilson. I made the comment that Wilson was the hardest working player on court. But, it also called into question her ability to score if she is not able to get to the offensive boards or to the rim. In one game, over half of her points were off of putbacks. In another game, the presence of an interior player who could rebound better than Wilson limited Wilson dramatically. It did not say that Wilson can't make it. It called into question what she will be able to do when there are competent players as big as her around, or even bigger. It took what looked to be a certainty and made it very questionable. Let her show what she can do.

She has obviously showed what she can do Syb, what more do you expect? She had 30+ points in the Choctaw game and the same amount with tons of boards in the finals. She can't do it all herself if that's what you expect.
Why is it that anytime Notre Dame or other big schools are after an Oklahoma kid, and they don't pick OU some tend to find the most flaws?
Do you ever question the staff or Sherri? Or they do no wrong by you?

Just because she signed with Arkansas does not mean she is not that good or had "less looks" in your words. She wants to help their way back into the top of the SEC standings and it is less than 2 hours from her home where family can come see her play. She's a playmaker/program changer.

Sherri recruited Wilson very early on in her career but I do not know why she eliminated OU from her list. I do know that OU struggles against Agressive/athletic teams. Which is another reason why I don't understand why we were not consistent with Walker.

First, it is Ok to stop beating the Wilson drum. If she makes All American in 2 or 3 years we will all say "you can evaluate talent". If not, you will be able to say "I am lousy at evaluating talent". No need to waste effort on verbiage right now. Time will tell.

As to Walker, she was OK tonight, but certainly not tremendous. I was once told she wanted some promises OU would not make. It made her mad so she went to A&M.

But, she didn't do it in the finals. That was the point. When Broken Arrow had a solid post, Wilson found getting to the boards difficult. Do it alone? Didn't she have a teammate who also signed or committed to Arkansas? Is that alone? She just had more of a problem doing her thing when there was someone in the middle to get a rebound or take up space.

1. Wilson is not a post. So of course she would have trouble against a true post player getting to the rim. If you would go out and watch some games you would see Muskogee has no post players at all. Their tallest player is indeed Wilson.

2. It's obvious you are not of hers because she is not going to be a sooner. If she were signed with OU you would praise the heck out of her.

That has to be the biggest lie I have ever heard. I have heard the real story and that is certainly not it. Strange how she is only "Ok" but put up big numbers against us and walked away with the Win..... Wow

Absolute nonsense. I know that she isn't a post. But, Choctaw had nobody that could rebound the ball consistently, and it allowed her to score a lot off of misses, usually her own. When Broken Arrow had a post, she couldn't score as effectively. Most college teams have a post.

Now, why didn't you post on the thread celebrating an OU win over UTSA? Do you only post after losses?

Give it a rest. If she is that great, why didn't they beat BYU? The story that they told on the air was that she went to A&M because they had a better engineering school.

Syb, arguing with you is like talking to a wall. It gets no where at all. You can say that about any player! Why must you insists on picking on Wilson? Is she that good to the point you have to notice every since flaw to make yourself feel better?

Like I said, venture out and watch some other games. This conversation with you goes no where as usual. If their not team OU, their not good to you, we get it now...

Sherri knows the real reason so I'm going to leave it at that.

..
Pretty much. You know, I didn't pick on Wilson. I simply said that there were questions, that it wasn't as certain as some were saying. The world may not be coming to an end because OU didn't sign Wilson. The fact that I (as well as another poster) have questions seems to irritate you. Can't say that I care. It is an observation.

She may work out well. She may not. If I had to make the call, which I didn't since Sherri has that responsibility, I might have held that scholarship for another prospect next year.

The midrange shot is the hardest shot to hit in basketball, Little and Wyatt would be 3 point specialist on most other teams, so I wouldn't expect little or Wyatt to have midrange games.. Most teams score off layup and 3 point shooting. Walker is a good player, but I think Williams is the better player, will be the better pro and will be taken in the draft before Walker, Williams gets to the line at will and can play the 2-4... I think Wilson will have a decent college career... Maybe make an All SEC team at some point while at Arkansas. The player I really liked in state more then Wilson and Dungee was Aahliyah Jackson who started her high school career in Oklahoma but moved to Arkansas... She's signed with A&M.

I recall Jackson, did not see much of the games but the game I did see she was very raw and athletic with a good upside. Should fit well in Blair's system. I still think Wilson was the better all around player. Not taking anything from Dungee or Jackson.

And, I think you are wrong and biased. You have rejected every kid that OU has recruited as having some fault. You have post after post rejecting Mulkey.

After you have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, I might consider your opinion as meaningful as that of Sherri Coale. I don't know her opinion on Wilson. I do know that she has been to three Final Fours. How many have you had?

I have not gone on to UT or Baylor boards to tell them what I think of their recruits. Frankly, I don't care. If they don't come here, that's their problem. I do see what I see with each one. The only can't miss prospect that I've seen is Cox, and she probably isn't what they expect. I think she will be good. I don't see a Stewart. But, I'm not going to their board to reject her or to Arkansas' board to give an opinion of Wilson. I wonder why you delight in coming to this board to give us negatives on Nancy or Dungee.

I am disgusted by an OU fan who would accept your opinions on OU recruits as being valid while ignoring a successful and Hall of Fame coach.

What was my opinion about Ana? Also let me get this right....your thoughts are that Nancy is going to be great and Cox won't be what we think she will be? Curious on your thoughts about Joyner?

This is so humorous

Wildest possible assumption about Wilson helping today. Who knows?

But you are right about the foolishness of praying that weak 3 point shooters "will hit 80% of them tonight so we can win".

Plus we lack height. I'm not sure if it was obvious on TV, but anyone who was actually at the game could clearly see that A&M had players who are several inches taller than our posts. Probably not as gifted as KK, but taller.

The stupidest thing said tonight was when Blair - after the game - said tonight was "good for women's basketball". I guarantee you it wasn't good for WBB in this state.

Outside of walker and Jones....that is a tall team. You are very right about the 3 point analysis.

My thoughts are that your diss of Nancy and Chelsea on this board is inappropriate and based on absolutely nothing. I have a wait and see attitude.

I can't think of that many players who develop in to stars under Kim. I think Cox will come in to Baylor as a big who can stretch the floor and will leave Baylor as the same player... I think Cox will be a All big 12 forward, and possible 2 time all american.

Holmes should become a future number 1 draft pick, a big 12 player of the year, and All American at Texas... I don't think Aston will get her to the level she should reach...

Mulkey, has a chance to be really special, dominate post, and make an All big 12 team, possible 2 time all american... But from what I've seen, I don't think Sherri will be as hard/push Nancy to the level she should reach...

I can see why you or anyone else would say this but my only thing is......it's really up to the kid/player to continue to develop. These kids have to spend time in the gym after everyone leaves or get there before everyone. I personally don't put all of the responsibility on the coaches.

I feel Simms did well while at Baylor and griner did so so....but i think that was a lot to do with the kids
