I've never seen a coach underachieve as much as Aston with as much talent. Except maybe Warlick at Tennessee the past couple years.

Yeah, she’s proving to be a recruiter only but Whorns haven’t been playing well the last couple of weeks. Karen may have been distracted and affected by Mulkey’s bs. Wallace was giving a flopping clinic tonight. The one in first quarter was a joke. Holmes elbow didn’t even touch Wallace and she flipped her head backwards like someone hit her head with a baseball bat! The incompetent officiating spent at least 10 minutes conversing about it before ever going to replay. All the while Brown was getting a long rest without having to step off the court. I believe it was all planned. Aston told officials many times “she does it all the time!” referring to Mulkey’s antics and she also told them about Wallace’s flopping. Enterline’s wife was very receptive to Mulkey’s rants. SMDH.

Edit: Also, no one would know better about Mulkey’s antics than Karen, as she spent a year on her staff.

I watched a part of the game, and the officiating was disgusting. I don't know how the league office can justify the officiating advantage given to Baylor. The nailed a couple for charging into Wallace where Wallace was clearly in the wrong.

Holmes is not Holmes this year, and Texas needs her. They really have no interior game if Holmes is not viable. If they have no interior, McCarty and Atkins can't operate.

I agree about Holmes and think they were better before adding more playing time for her. She is an athlete deluxe but I’m not sure she has the mentality of a superstar. McCarty has been a little disappointing based on returning conference POY. Atkins is probably the best on the team. But a lot of them have consistency issues.

Baylor has become like the Kansas men, the stander of the big 12... I remember a time when OU could win the big 12, heck even coming in 3rd place has been a challenge for Sherri and co.

I was totally wrong on Texas having a chance at winning the BIG12 this year. They are over matched and it is very noticeable. Texas shot more free throws in this game and still couldn't take advantage of Baylor. I figured Baylor would have a down year having to play the freshmen against Atkins and Brooke, but I must admit I was totally wrong on this.

I would have to imagine some freshman are going to transfer after this year at Texas. Not a single minute for Destiny Littleton or Rellah Boothe. Patterson didn't make the trip due to illness.

Was hoping Texas would unseat Baylor this year. Looks like Mulkey owns Aston, just as she has owned Coale for the past 7 or 8 years.

I had a few doubts about Texas' recruiting class this year. Boothe appears to be more out of shape than I had anticipated, and I know some players have been battling injuries. However, provided they stay healthy, next year's recruiting class will be different. Collier is the best HS player in the country (IMO), and Sedona Prince should develop into an excellent post player. Aubrey Ann Caron Goudreau and Jatarie White didn't particularly excel at their previous schools, and I feel they've been inconsistent this year. They aren't premier post players, and the TX post presence in general just isn't that great. Hard for an inside-out game like that.

However, regardless of our thoughts about the Longhorns, I'd be much more concerned about OU potentially not making the NCAA tourney. It is typical, however, that some fans on this board divert their attention elsewhere.

I could not agree more! That's exactly what I was thinking watching. You can be a great recruiter, but if you don't know how to use the talent it just seems like a waste!

I mean she was the #3 and #4 recruits from last season, along with several other all-americans and her team gets beat by TCU, who is lucky to land a top 100 recruit, and plays us to 10 and we have far less talent - has to be in the coaching.

I cant imagine that Booth and Patterson stay after this year. Unless they are convinced they will be the go-to players for next season, but with all the talent coming in year after year it's tough to say.

Baylor just the better team plain and simple. Looks to me like the baylor staff goes out and recruits better than the rest of big 12 coaches. My advice to other coaches "get off your lazy tails and recruit, but if you can't coach doesn't really matter..
