Interesting roster... Tech has a bunch of guys returning from an NCAA Tournament team, but nobody averaged a bunch of points. Evans, Gray, Odiase, Ross, Smith all averaged around 9-11 ppg. All return as juniors.

Then they add a Southern Miss transfer, Arkansas State Transfer, Quinnipiac transfer, DePaul transfer, and a few NJCAA transfers.

This is a very OLD/experienced team. They will start 4 juniors who have been starting for 3 years, plus a redshirt senior who was Honorable Mention all conference last year. Then they have a bunch of juniors and seniors coming off the bench.

Looks like a pretty good setup for Chris Beard in his first season.

PG: Keenan Evans (6'3'' 185- Junior)
Entering his 3rd year as starting point guard. Averaged 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists per game as a sophomore.

SG: Niem Stevenson (6'5'' 205- Junior)
Averaged 24.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game as a NJCAA First-Team All-American last season. "Niem is one of the top athletic wing scorers the nation," junior college analyst Jerry Mullen said. "He is high character person and a great get for Coach Beard and Texas Tech."

SF: Justin Gray (6'6'' 210- Junior)
Entering his third year as a starter. Gray secured 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.8 steals per game as a sophomore.

PF: Zach Smith (6'8'' 220 - Junior)
Entering his third year as a starter. Averaged 10 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.8 assists per game.

PF: Aaron Ross (6'8'' 215 - RS Senior)
Honorable Mention All Big 12. Ross dialed up 10.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Improved his scoring average to 12.5 points per game in Big 12 contests which ranked 13th on the league rankings … Buried 87.4 percent of his free throws (97-of-111), second in the Big 12 only behind Oklahoma All-American Buddy Hield … Drained 27 of his 33 treys versus Big 12 opponents, while his 42.2 three-point percentage in conference games was fourth on the Big 12 leaderboard

2nd Team

PG: Giovanni McLean
Graduate Transfer. McLean posted a team-leading 12.7 points and 3.3 assists per game over his 29 starts with Quinnipiac last season. He registered double figures 20 times fueled by four games of 20-plus points.

PG: Devon Thomas
Thomas posted 2.4 points, 1.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds per game with all 32 of his appearances coming off the bench … Served as Tech’s backup point guard and averaged 12.3 minutes per contest … Scored at least five points on eight occasions and handed out multiple assists 12 times … Piled up a season’s best nine points and distributed two assists versus High Point (Nov. 13) in his career debut

SG: Shadell Millinghaus
Transfer from Southern Miss and Junior College. National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American. Millinghaus registered 16.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He drained 47.5 percent of his field goals attempts and reached double figures in 26 of 30 games last season. Millinghaus captured NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention status and Panhandle Conference Player of the Year accolades. Millinghaus spent his freshman season at Southern Miss where he averaged 7.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game

PF: Anthony Livingston (6'8'' 220)
-Transfer from Arkansas State. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward led the Red Wolves as a junior averaging 15.9 points and 10 rebounds per game, earning second-team all-Sun Belt Conference recognition.

C: Norense Odiase (6'9'' 255)
Entering his third season. Odiase came away with 8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game … Started 17 of his 20 appearances but missed a 12-game stretch (Jan. 23-March 2) due to a foot injury … Knocked down a team-leading 51.4 percent of his field goal attempts

I believe TCU will be worse. So they won't be dead last.

Mclean was once committed to OU? Or am I thinking of the wrong kid

No top 5

No top 5

HE was, something about his grades weren't going to transfer so he was going to have to red shirt so he ended up not coming.

More like top 5 in the Nation!!

Come on! The conference lost a lot of players, they return a veteran team, added some older players... OU is rebuilding, OSU is rebuilding, UT is rebuilding, ISU lost a ton...

If there was ever a year Tech could place in the top 5, you'd have to think it would be this year.
