The 2015 Season Has A Wall...

That's more on the personnel...not coaching. At this juncture, players are who they are, not going to change much.

That might be - I am not at practice to see what they are doing. We had several turnovers Saturday where we threw it to a guy who was just starting to go the other way - no real defensive pressure. I expect those things earlier in the season but you could see indecisiveness all over the place out there, including on the player's faces.

Ha! You all can thank me now for the reverse jinx :)

That could not have been scripted any better. It was EXACTLY what this team needed. I was going to start a separate thread as many of the following thoughts diverge from the initial post, but no one likes the new poster who starts a thread everyday, so I'll keep it here:

--I was at the LNC tonight. I'm one of those bad fans. When the Thunder arrived, I got season tickets (not right away, but partial for 2011 and full season ever since) and gave up my OU tickets. I also have two kids now so time is limited after 41 home Thunder games plus playoffs. I used to attend almost all home OU games; now I pick and choose throughout the year-- but probably max out at 5 per season. So I'm not as in-tuned with the goings-on at the arena as I once was. Blown away by the student section. Those kids that are dressed up and seem to be the catalysts for this rebirth deserve a standing O from anyone who cares about OU hoops. I was in the section right next to them and they really made the evening much more enjoyable. It's great to see. Better atmosphere than even during the Blake two year run.

--Came to the realization tonight that I'm probably too hard on the team in general. They are over-achievers. It was shocking to see the physical disparity between the two teams up close. It was almost comical. Our starting five is really strong, but we are undersized down low and none of the other guys are anyone near being an elite talent or a real pro prospect. The top schools in the country wouldn't even look at guys like Walker or Booker and they likely wouldn't pay much attention to a guy like Cousins or Woodard either. Texas has more gifted players than we do. No question about it. But we swept them. Again. LK isn't flawless, but I have no complaints.

--Woodard won that game for them. No coincidence that in all of these close losses he came up short and then we win the one where he shines. And shine he did. Best stretch of basketball he's had all year to close out that game.

Couldn't agree more, SKINS. I feel that this year's team has good players but not top ten talent. I see this team as overachievers as well and that makes me like them even more. They've got grit.

And this is from a guy who used to follow OU BBall as closely as anybody.

Not picking on you at all, SKINS, but the above quote is the reason we can't draw 8,000 for a top 20 OU team against the Horns. It is sad, but it is certainly not surprising. A lot of us forecasted this for both the Sooners and Cowboys when the Thunder arrived.

And don't call yourself a bad fan. At least you were there!

I think for match up purposes Buford as a stretch 4 could be right. But, my guess for a starting lineup would be Woodard, Cousins, Buford, Spangler, and Manyang. Buford has guard skills to a much higher degree than Cam ever had.

I agree with this .. and from talking with an OU AD staffer they feel like the D could be even better next season .. with a legit rim protector on the court at all times ..
