The Difficult Decisions

I think 20-25 min is about right for Neal right now...

Agreed, we can get Neal playing time and still be competitive. As long as he is getting around 20 minutes per game, I think that is sufficient.

I agree.

My only problem with Neal right now is that he is a foul machine. Hes not very good on D at this point in his career, mainly b/c hes young and not physically mature as the others on the court. I do think he needs more points but we are creating defensive problems with match ups when he is in.

And that's why i suggest the time i do...we all tend to look at offensive production, but he still is very immature in the Division 1 game and makes a lot of mistakes on the defensive end...

He needs time to get better, but not so much that he becomes a liability...

That amount of time is a lot for a guy like Neal that most didnt think would have much impact this year, i would say he has been a pleasant surprise this year much like Cade was during his first year...

Didn't I read that he was still 17 when school started this year? Has he turned 18 yet?

This.

We saw how that worked out in the first few games this season. Stupid idea to try and move him back to PG, but that's why thebigabd isn't coach.

Im talking about for a few minutes a game to spell Blair... he is better at PG than Calvin Newell, and sliding him over allows Pledger, Davis, Neal, Cam, and Fitz to be on the floor at the same time.

Just have Cade or Pledger handle the ball for 5 or so minutes a game to get Neal that extra 5 without sacrificing your other talent.

pledger + PG = no good

i don't think he was as horrible as people make him out to be at the point. I trust him more than newell running the point. He is quicker than most realize too. As abd said, it wouldn't be for 20 minutes a game, just a minute here or there.

This... 12-15 minutes at the most at this stage of his career.

You know when he gets more minutes in games? When he earns them in practice. You play your best players the most minutes in games no matter what age they are.

Why do fans assume the only chance a player has to improve is during games? There are 3 times as many minutes to play in practice as games.

We were 4 and 1 with Pledger at the point, he switched it in Hawaii...Not saying playing him at the pg spot was the answer...and it hurt is scoring...but 4 & 1 is 4 & 1

Newell is one hell of a player. It is really unfair to him to put him in the game at point, which he just isn't natural at it. He is a two guard that can slash and score. I would prefer running cade at point (I know that sounds ridiculous) when Blair needs a rest or is in foul trouble and playing newell more at the two guard spot. He can score.

Didn't really go through all the posts, but it is sports, you put play whoever gives you the best chance to win in any given match-up. The "decision" is easy...no wonder Mizzou has never made it to the FF*

*I think :)

you think that has anything to do with who we played at that time? maybe? just a little bit? you cant just make someone who is not a PG play it.. offense was not ran well with pledger.. the end

i also trust pledger dribbling the ball more than newell but thats not all there is to it.. pledger is not a PG and really newell isn't either but hes our best option considering the circumstances.. i hope and pray we get cezar
