Two year bowl ban, allowing players to transfer without sitting out, loss of scholarships, etc...

Pete Carroll claims in his response that the coaching staff and administration didn't know, but the NCAA gave them a harsh penalty regardless.

Yes but a house and car are worse than a $3,000 loan. Even still I see a 1 year post season ban and the lost of 2-4 scholarships in our future. Just my Opinion though, no insider info to back that up

No, because:

1) Everything that went on at USC was much worse than anything that went on at OU.

2) USC thumbed their nose at the NCAA and stonewalled them for 3 or 4 years. USC's attitude and arrogance is at much to blame for their severe penalties as anything else. Have you read the comments made by the USC athletic director since yesterday? Complete arrogance and absolutely no admission that they did anything wrong. OU has cooperated with the NCAA from the get go. They don't call USC the University of Spoiled Children for no reason.

The two situations aren't at all comparable.

That video is absolutely pathetic. I cannot believe someone gave that a go as a form of damage control.

its the same one from last nights sportscenter, At the time i thought "this makes sense, ESPN still kissing Pete Carrol's and USC's ***

Seems like with all that time in Southern Cal, he would be better at acting and spitting lines. What a douche!

I would love to have the interview script to this.....could have a lot of fun with it.

Our major worry about this situation at this time is more because of the fact we are on probation when this stuff went down. We could get the book thrown at us like USC but it would be for different reasons than the USC situation.

Yep. The bad part is we were on probation. The good thing going for us is that we did not ignore the problem when TMZ made their little news cast. We pro-actively began investigating, put Tiny on suspension and fired a coach. The only thing that will prevent a hammer will be if we can convince the NCAA that the bad actions stopped at a certain level and once discovered were dealt with.

I have a feeling that there is a lot of information that we are not going to know until the full report is reviewed by the NCAA. What happens to us will be determined by the facts and that we are not trying to hide any of them from the NCAA.

It is interesting that we have not self-imposed any penalties with regard to this. Does that mean the athletic department believe the reality is not nearly as bad as all of the speculation?

It won't be as bad. Maybe 1 year post season ban and maybe 2 scholarship losses. Which will be bad but not near as bad as USC because we have been more direct.

Agree. That is the concern not as much the intensity of the violations. They were small compared to USC. Someone mentioned above USC was worse because they thumbed their nose at and stonewalled the NCAA for the last 3-4 years. That is where what Sam mentioned in the quote above about what will hurt OU is the fact they've been on probation for years now and these problems in the athletic department have went back a long time now. They could look at that as OU thumbing their nose or not taking it seriously.

Two scholarship losses for a basketball team is like 8 to 10 losses for a football team.

A USC coach directly paid to get a player to go to USC.

AT WORST, an OU coach helped a current player secure a loan.

We will be punished, but I doubt it will be any worse than what the USC basketball program was hit.
