Yeah, but they're paying themselves - it's not like it's real money. If you give the women 5 years of eligibility, most colleges are going to be paying for graduate school and that's more expensive for schools that are already in the red.
Not at Oklahoma, if my understanding of the situation is correct. The Athletic Department is totally separate from the academic side of the university.Yeah, but they're paying themselves - it's not like it's real money.
So we think the Athletic Department is paying the University regular graduate school tuition rates for Whitney this year - and real money is flowing from one to the other? Pardon me if I'm somewhat skeptical about that. Not at Oklahoma, if my understanding of the situation is correct. The Athletic Department is totally separate from the academic side of the university.

OU was one of the once that actually pay it. Also - doesn't that money come from the endowments for women's basketball?
But, I don't think they would all want to play for 5 years, even if they could.
But it does make for interesting discussion.
I find it odd that schools would worry about money with the way they have no issues scheduling trips all over the place as well as a seemingly bottomless budget whenever they seem to need it.
Although cutting out the conference tournaments would help some, under Whitlock's plan, some teams would be playing additional 13 games (if I understand his plan) during the post season. That is a lot of games and a lot of nights in hotel rooms and away from school for the girls.

It would not surprise me to see the individual toilets in the upper deck eventually named in memory of someone.
It would be special, though:
Baylor 72, Stanford 49
Baylor 88, Stanford 65
I'm thrilled already. When does it start?
