Thompson and Hamilton

I think Thompson should have returned. Hamilton should leave. He is ready.

"So where does that leave Texas? Small. Tiny. Largely irrelevant in the national title hunt."
:ez-roll:

Lost their top assistant to Fresno State as well.

You know what this means...We could win the big 12 next year. Thats not really a fantasy but an actual possibility.

I'll grant you that it is somewhat possible, but highly unlikely. I'll be happy if we finish in the top half of the conference.

sounds good for us, probably means they decide to up their offer sheet to make Deandre Daniels sign there.

This can't be true.
They both said they were coming back.

Yeah we could only hope.

Why don't we give the poor kid a bit of a break? Perhaps our new coach can teach Nick how to defend a little and how to play some in the low post, which would bode well for a guy his size. If so, Thompson might actually be capable of contributing a little in his senior season.

Guys like Hamilton are a dime a dozen in the NBA.

He reminds me of the following players:

Martell Webster (Minnesota)
Dorel Wright (GSW)
Kyle Korver (CHI)
Anthony Morrow (NJN)

Basically, he is a spot-up 3pt shooter with good size and pretty good athletic ability. These are good players to have on your team, and Jordan Hamilton will be a good 3pt shooter off the bench for a long time in the NBA. Probably.

Jordan Hamilton is not half the 3-point shooter that Kyle Korver is...

As a sophomore in college, Korver was 100-221 from the 3pt line.

As a sophomore in college, Hamilton was 90-234 from the 3pt line.

Korver is obviously better, but I dont think its a bad comparison right now. They will have the same role on the team. 6'7'' spot up shooter.

That's fine.
My point was that it just wasn't a good comparison.

I was agreeing with you just in reverse.

Some guys that resemble Hamilton's body type

Rudy Gay
DeMar DeRozan
Joe Johnson
Nick Young
Stephen Jackson
Gerald Wallace
etc, etc, those are just the names that popped up in my head...

I'd say Gerald Wallace or Joe Johnson is the kind of player Hamilton could/should become. I don't think he's a 3-point shooter solely. He shot under 40% (38 to be exact) in college which will probably translate to 33-35% in the pros...I think he's a lot more versatile and should be a top 15 pick.
