I believe in that deal that Mavs basically traded Traylor for Dirk and Nash. One of the best trades in history.

That said, this is very sad.
Way too young.

I remember the Dirk for Traylor trade well. Don Nelson was crucified by the analysts for bringing in another big white stiff to continue the tradition of Cherokee Parks, Eric Montross, Chris Anstey and Shawn Bradley.

Nobody thought skinny Dirk was NBA ready and Nellie flew over to Germany to convince him to come over. He missed about half of his first season and everybody was ready to call him the next bust. He started to dominate his second season and has never stopped adding to his game since.

The saddest part about this is that he was alone at the end and not found for a few days. Must be really hard on his family. RIP Tractor

Yep, but Garrity was acquired in the Dirk trade. It was basically a three-team deal, with the Mavs drafting Traylor and shipping him to Milwaukee, the Bucks drafting Dirk and shipping him to Dallas, and using a later pick on Garrity and sending him to Phoenix, where the Suns sent Nash to Dallas.

If you read all about Traylor's life then you end up genuinely feeling for the kid...and for him to go out like that is just ridiculously sad. He was very kind hearted and loyal and deserved much better.
