Transfer Portal 2027

I’ve never said we will be better or that Gak is the answer. I simply said by and large, Lusk seems to have a better take on b-ball related stuff than Bob! That’s all I said. Believe Bob if you want…IDC. The fact is we aren’t getting a top 5 center with what those players are demanding. And getting a new coach isn’t going to change that part of it. Most of our scoring is going to come from X, Pop and Reid. Between the three of them, they should avg around 45 ppg, giv or take a few. What does Rooths provide? Hopefully 8-10 in an expanded role. That would put us at 55 ppg. That probably leaves another 20 ppg to be split amongst Gak and the bench.

I have no idea how good this team can or will be. Most likely, we are having a new HC next year. Didn’t realize I said anything that was so controversial, but some people tend to look for it.
I responded directly to what you said. You said that you trust Lusk (who is saying that Gak will be much better than Mo), but then you indicate that you are expecting him to average 8 and 6. I am just trying to reconcile those two positions. And when you say that you think those numbers from Gak will be adequate, I guess I just assumed that meant you thought that would be good enough for our team to succeed.

I didn't say your post was controversial. I am just trying to understand how you view our chances next season.

I think by default, the center position isn’t going to avg more than say 10 ppg, based on the three I mentioned. The bulk of our scoring should come from those 3…wouldn’t you agree? 10 ppg may be a little aggressive for Gak (or maybe not…hard to really know what he will provide). I don’t think Lusk is penciling in Gak for any all-conference teams..and I do think he can and should be better than Mo. Fair enough?

I think those three will likely be the leading scorers. Bob seems to hope the Louisville kid will develop into more of an offensive threat than just a dunker. But I think we will need more than 10 ppg from the center position as a whole. If that's all we get, I think the optimism that the staff was spreading about Gak was really over the top. If he and Kai can't combine for more than that, we are in for a long season IMO.

I wish I could feel optimistic about this, but I was saying the same thing this time last year if we didn't make the tournament and we didn't. For some reason Moser is the Teflon Don of coaching, nothing sticks to him. I have heard it said Denny is playing the long game to set things up for his next hire. Again, I wish I could believe this as well, but color me skeptical. And now they add teams to dilute March Madness in a move that nobody thinks is a good move. I can see it now, we get into the playin games as the number 70 team, win a play in game, and voila, see Moser made the tournament and you can see the program is trending upward. Pretty close to not even caring anymore. I miss college basketball when it was fun and we were competitive.

The other potential saving grace for Moser for those who want to continue making excuses will be “this was the first year for the new GM and he was hired too late to really make an impact in the portal. Porter deserves another year with the GM in place for the full offseason before we can judge him.” It’s obviously ridiculous, but like you said, Moser has nine lives.
