No thanks. I'll take the WS approach here, he's had 4 seasons, 3 in the ACC and couldn't do anything. Followed by a year at Charleston where he should have completely dominated that competition but put up just good numbers for that league.

While I mostly agree with this, he did play behind some really good players at Duke & Clemson. Also spent most of his time in Durham injured.

For what spot? Definitely not good enough to start, and shouldn't be playing over Rogers.

If that's the best starting 5 we can sign, well, some of us around here will be really happy in 11-12 months.

What has Rogers shown to warrant playing over anyone who can walk and chew gum at the same time? Reeves avg. 12pt, 8rb and 1.5 bl at a mid major this season..

Go look at who Reeves played against last year. It's all of the teams we played OOC that we complained about, because they were in the 300's.

But to your point, does it do any good to have Reeves as the backup 5 and Rogers 3rd string? That would be a waste of money as well. Rogers isn't staying to run third string again. Everybody around here wants to be excited about HS rankings, but Rogers was fairly well rated. We need to develop him or move on.
 
I seriously wonder what some on this board expect. We are gonna have to hope we hit on some chances in portal.

Why?

I'm not expecting a 10 deep roster of guys without questions, but we can't get 4-5 proven starters? I mean, we kind of have that last year, and a bench of Jones, Nwankwo (bust), and Forsythe.

It also goes back to building a team that can win. A team with an identify. No flip flopping from a team with offense and no defense, to a team with defense and no offense. How hard can it be to get some guards that can shoot 35% from 3 and play some defense?

There were hints of making fun of the top 10 player in the class. highest rated recruit in program history if he were to commit.

Reeves started slow & then spent time coming off the bench this year when they were starting Chol Machot, who is an elite shot blocker type & the conference DPOY. That doesn’t say good things for Reeves initially, but he started the final 12 games in place of Machot, who came off the bench. In those, Reeves’ averages were:

15.2 pts
10.0 rbs
1.7 blks
67% FG

Double figures in 10/12. Had a game of 29 & 18, and they were 9-3 in those 12. To your point, competition wasn’t P5 level but the CAA had zero teams in the 300s in KenPom’s final ratings. Hofstra was 89, 6 teams in the 100s, 6 in the 200s. I also have a hard time imagining Rogers putting up 29 & 18 vs any division-1 team this past season.

Ended up making an all-conference team & was on the all-defensive team. Decent mobility, lob threat, great length. He’s far from my first choice but if none of the high NIL guys are attainable you can do worse than that, I think.
 
I agree. I think Reeves can be a competitive center, and I think Rooths can play the 5 effectively in small lineups too.

We had guys on here bashing a guy who theoretically was visiting OU as a 5 star top 8 player because of a 247 post about him being bow-legged and a bad shooter.
