Transfer Portal 2027

I like what we have on the team. Just a little worried about what we don't have. Keeping my fingers crossed that we land some additional contributors. Need a big or two, a wing, and a couple guards.

If this 5th year deal comes through, it might save Porter's bacon because a lot of the top teams filled key starting positions already. Otherwise, tough sledding from here. I think we can assume the 2x was a dud.

Unfortunately, sometimes it has to get really bad before the Athletic Department realizes that it has to invest in the program much more than what it has been doing. Right now, OU is acting like it plays basketball in the old Western Athletic Conference. The team would be toward the bottom of that conference especially back in the UNLV Jerry Tarkanian days.

Put another way, we lost our three best players, 4 of our top 5 players, and 5 of our top 6 if you count the Russian.

Simply retaining Brown, Reid, Rogers, and Forsythe isn't enough. This roster needed considerable talent from the Portal to replace the guys that left. Doesn't look like we're going to get it.
I agree on the fact that this has been a frustrating portal cycle, and hopefully our GM pulls something out of his you know what....but we lost our 3 best players?? Brown is and was the key and is the best player, esp if he defends. Pack was a great shooter, but his size and defense were big negatives. Davis was solid, but you have to think another year of development for Reid will be a better Reid and hopefully Rooths can develop into his potential. I would like to think Rogers will improve also. I understand we are putting a lot of faith into development, but that is part of the game. Not arguing, just hopeful. I know we prob shouldnt be hopeful and be optimistic, but here is to trying to be.

Which one of brown or Reid was not one of our best 6 players last year? And why would you think that? Who was our three best players and how was brown not one of them?

Again, simply false. The most credible report from the last couple weeks is that most sources think $12M or so is what it will take to have a good roster in a power conference next season. Unless you think Denny outright lied in his comments about our budget and resources, we are right in that range.

Players can improve, but boy, the people who are doing cartwheels over retaining guys like Dayton and Rogers, in particular, are really banking on massive improvement. As of right now, our roster is awful. Retention is good . . . assuming the guys you retain are good players.

I don't always agree with you, but you're 100% right. Hundreds of guys like Forsythe and Rogers in the portal, and we could pick them up at the end. There is value in retention in terms of chemistry, execution, etc., but as far as a "resource" they're not going to be responsible for success / failure.

I view Rogers in a much much better light than many of you. Guess we will see. I wanted Porter to play he and Jones a lot more than he did all year.
