Transfer Portal 2027

First player where I’ve seen us mentioned for reaching out too. He would be a great addition, but some good competition for him.

Maybe most people know this, but I had forgotten that the portal closes April 21. So even though it opened later this season, I think we will still see a lot of announcements very quickly.

I believe the portal closing just means you can no longer enter the portal, not that it is the last day that you can join a new school. So we should still see many commitments that take place after that date out of the portal, I'd think.

True. Also, I'm an idiot lol.

I do think we will still see some quick movement. Players will want to sign before spots are taken, and teams won't want to be on the outside looking in. I hope the GM will really help here, since he has been scouting guys all season.

But he wasn’t brought over just to fill a roster spot. You ca tell they expected him to eventually be a contributor. It’s not like when they sign a guy who they clearly just view as a practice player to fill out the roster.
With no walk ons and 15 scholarships, it’s hard to find players for teams like ou to sit the bench all year. Cannot play all 15. Giving a foreign player a shot is never bad since they cannot get NIL. Let him practice, if good enough play, if not practice body and no harm if they leave. If not going to play anyway, why not redshirt first the kids sake.

Good or bad sign for rogers?

I’d take it as bad
I thought the same for a sec, but it's not like they would end up at the same school anyways...so they wouldn't likely be on the same team regardless. Also, Kai did leave and play his Sr season of HS at a different place as well. I guess we'll see. I'd like to see Kai stick around. He played well in the WV game.

What evidence do you have for this? I always assumed just a warm body, less than northweather

I think it’s pretty easy to tell by the amount of time they spend recruiting someone and the way they talk about them in the press releases when they sign a guy, and by the info they leak to the media. That other kid who entered the portal today … it was very clear when they signed him that he would never see the floor. He was a practice player and a guy who would only play in garbage time. With Holst, the press release on signing day called him a 4 star prospect. And the talk on this board by no means was that he was essentially the current version of a walkon. I and other were skeptical that he would do much for us, but plenty of people went to great lengths to say he wasn’t a project, etc.
