Transfer Portal 2027

Sounds like OU has a zoom with Desean Goode this weekend. He’d be a quality addition, but we’re up against stiff competition. His role would likely be bigger here than at Kentucky, Louisville, etc. Might be one we’d have to “overpay” if we really want him.
Stiff competition indeed:
"...This weekend, NC State, Oklahoma, Kentucky, St. John's and Louisville will all meet with Goode in person.

Then, on Monday, Goode will begin his first visit to the Kansas Jayhawks."

it's only out of control if someone is dumb enough to pay it.
College athletic departments have plenty of money. They can afford it, just like they can afford to pay coaches and ADs big money and give massive buyouts to coaches who haven’t earned them. Ratings and TV contracts just keep going up. The schools are fine.

They really don’t. Not when every sport loses money except 2 sometimes 3.

So many good players in portal. Patience is key, esp if prices are really that high.
Wait too long though and you are looking for a player to lead your team, and those guys are all gone.

Dominoes are starting to fall. Houston picked up two commits today from kids that will definitely be starting for them.

Yea most schools have already made moves. Texas added a good player. Iowa State did. Hell Syracuse did and they were a disaster this season. Again, if we are going to bring back our coach under the theory that we are going to up our NIL game, then we better, you know, up our NIL game.

I know there are still good players available but the question is whether we will get them.

Missed the point. How much more?

Pretty thing margins for $200mil +
Again, I’d rather pay players than give massive buyouts to coaches who haven’t accomplished anything, so I don’t feel bad for programs who complain about how much players are asking for in the portal.

Here is the problem. And yes, it's a Moser problem.

He knows we need better players. So he chases a few of them. They put us on their list, talk pretty to us for 7-10 days, then sign with one of the better teams/coaches and we're stuck starting the process over. We all know there are a few kids we're flirting with that are HIGHLY unlikely to end up here. But Moser can't/won't move on.

If Moser was a better coach. If Moser had more success. If Moser wasn't likely (hopefully) headed into his last season. Maybe. Just maybe. More of those kids would listen to his sales pitch.

It’s all of the non revenue sports that will need to be cut to offset the increase in revenue sports NIL. It’s coming.

I think TO Barrett could start next to Brown for us. I'd love to add him & Goode. Thrown in the Louisville kid.

Brown/Forsythe
Barrett
Reid/High School FR incoming
Goode/Louisville kid
Transfer/Rogers
