Transfer Portal 2027

Yeah and it’s disappointing, too. No intel but feel like that was a decision made by SS and Murdock to not go all in or as all out on basketball. When he first joined Scoop he was much more engaged with basketball and seemed to have news no one else had. Since they moved, not so much.

I know everyone has been frustrated and a little cynical about the state of men’s hoops, but it shows in their coverage or commitment on SS like we cover it because we have to. Outside of their coverage on pressers or postgame, not a lot of added coverage or inside info as they shifted focus. Still like him and enjoy his reporting as I feel like it’s not all on Bob.

Lusk is the only local one hustling behind the scenes now. And if you filter through the constant optimism on every subject, the kid doesn’t do a bad job.
When Lon was coach they would go to the open practices and even talk to players after. Got some inside from coach’s as well. Lon set it up for some good coverage and made it to easy. Porter does not have the open practice so not as much easy coverage.

Over simplifying some as media can still get access to team. I understand not wanting open practices, so not knocking porter, just an observation

Can you blame them? If the AD and program are willing to let themselves fall to less than mediocrity, why should SS care about the sport?

I think by this point, given who we have signed, who we have struck out on, and who we are rumored to be targeting, it’s safe to say that we will not sign nearly as highly rated a class as last year. I guess we’ll have to fall back on Moser really coaching them up lol.

Which is a reflection of the product on the court! OU fans have put up with so much average or less than average basketball under Moser, and are tired of it.
There is no argument that the last few years has been disappointing. I was surprised that Moser was given another year, but I think I understand Denny’s reasoning.
The problem is the only time there’s much passion for OU basketball is when we want to fire the coach! I’ve been a fan since the Dave Bliss years, and it seems like the only coach the fan base truly liked was Billy Tubbs. It’s funny to read about the fond reminiscing about Kelvin Sampson now when so many people hated him then.
Everyone wants to blame the struggles on Moser or Castiglione but it’s really much deeper than that. With the exception of some Tubbs years, we’ve never consistently supported the program. This problem was long before the Thunder. We’re not just talking money, we’re talking attendance. Until we all realize that we’re part of the problem there won’t be a solution.

Anything the AD has or hasn’t done is a reflection of our fan base.
To a degree but the biggest influence on the AD and what they do or don’t do, is and always has been the big money donors. If the people paying the bills don’t care enough, nothing changes. If the BMDs apply pressure on the AD, stuff gets done. That’s the way it’s always been. The AD acts or doesn’t act based on what the money says.
