Transfer Portal 2027

I hear ya. I will say, once Rooths committed...Goode wasn't really an option. I liked Goode's shooting ability, but Rooths has more size and is more athletic. I really wanted Hill. Loved his shooting ability. I liked Riley's game, but I get it. If you're him and want to be THE PG, you wouldn't pick OU. Pack has no issues playing off the ball and filling in at PG as needed, but Riley wasn't. I also liked Mingo, but would prefer a better shooter at that position.

I will be shocked if PM doesn't bring in a quality guard. I realize he hasn't produced the results we ALL expect, but he's always had decent players at the guard position, and has brought in quality guards every portal class thus far.
Portal guards Moser has brought in have been hit and miss. This year we hit on Pack and Brown. The year before, Jones proved to be a good player after recovering from injury but he was a bench guy. JN was an absolute disaster and a waste of a roster spot for two years. Soares was a hit. Goodine and Elvis … I’d say more miss than hit when you look at their overall games. Miles should have been a bigger hit if he hadn’t inexplicably gotten less playing time than Elvis. The Duke PG wasn’t very good for us. McCollum was totally overmatched for mush of conference play because he was small and one dimensional. Sherfield was ok but also struggled a fair amount with the jump to Big 12 play.

Am I missing anyone? I think it’s a big stretch to act like he has consistently brought in guards who are legit game changers at this level. And that’s what we need. We have signed two role players. We need some guys whose role is “star.”

I would be happy with Isaacs. He always seemed to light OU up when we played against him. Maybe he can do that for OU now.
He has talent and scoring ability. I worry about how he would fit in chemistry-wise.

He’s solid… but would be a downgrade in the lineup vs Pack. So if we’re looking to improve the roster and he is your starter, I’m not a huge fan.
Yea I would have felt better about him a year ago than I do now. He put up very pedestrian numbers and didn’t start for most of the season on a team that wasn’t all that much better than us. Unless the hope is that he will be much better with more time to recover from his injury, I just don’t know how you’d feel great if he ends up being the best portal acquisition and a guy who needs to be really good for us.

Who helps us win more next year ? Pop or the Tulsa kid ? If we are spending anywhere near the same amount you use it on Pops.

Pack, Brown, Fears, Duke, Los, Sherfield, Oweh, were all good to very good college guards. McCollum, Goodine, Elvis, Duke guard, Dayton are all serviceable college guards…ideally they would all be bench guards. I still look at JN as a wing, but regardless, he simply couldn’t finish. He was a decent athlete and could rebound, but wasn’t the answer in the end.

Just my opinions….my point is he always been able to get some guards who could play.
