Treece or ViVi

Treece just because she's hitting it, but it seems ViVi may have more of an upside.

Different types of players. There are probably times that I would prefer one over the other. Late in the game, I'd rather have someone who could hit free throws in the game. I think McKenna is 3-3. Vionese is about 0-7.

Both seem to be able to hit cripples fairly well. I was surprised at McKenna's fifteen-footer. Vionese uses her body to control the situation. McKenna uses her head.

I'm comfortable with either one when KayKay is out of the game. I think ViVi will do better against bigger players. Treece seems to be adjusting to Div I play a little quicker.

Treece has impress me more. But in long run I think ViVi will be better.

I give the nod to Treece as well. She has played the game longer than ViVi and it shows. Treece has more athletic ability than I expected when she signed. I'm very curious to watch how well her sister does in the next year or two.

I will say this about Gabbi, she is like a bee, she is everywhere, fast and determined. along with the other freshmen this class is going to be great by the time they are seniors.

No doubt, Gabbi is the quarterback and the offense is benefitting from her good play. She is really good and will get better.

Both have very soft hands. They don't put the ball on the floor, but go straight to the basket, a rarity for such young players. They both rebound with authority. McKenna runs the floor better, only because Vivi hasn't completely healed. McKenna seems to have a little better range on her shot. The kicker right now, is free throw shooting. That gives the edge to McKenna, other wise for me it is a wash. Use them both.

Trees for me. I like it that she takes good angles and uses the backboards for her shots. She also has a good looking shot from about six feet. She will get better.

I'm interested to see ViVi once she gets her game legs back under her. I love her size - she's wide - and she seems to be very athletic also. Trees is doing very well and I didn't really know much about her. It's nice to have both of them doing well.

As far as really evaluating them I'll see how it goes in the tourney. It's hard to tell sometimes when you play a team and your bench outscores the other team.

First game that I have actually seen, the others I listened to the radio and followed the stats on the internet. Treece and Vivi are different type players. I think Vivi has basketballl smarts, I saw her make some good moves and passes and shots tonight......the thing is she is not hitting her free throw shots......BUT the entire team is missing. Can't remember what the percentage was at the end of the game, it seems it was less than 60 percent. People who usually are high percentage have been missing. Point is that I hope this is not typical for Vivi and that the rest of the team turns it around. We are not going to win conference games shooting less that 60 percent of our free throws.

Anyway, yep, I had been impressed with Vivi but really liked how Treece could hit the 10 to 15 foot shot. Hoping this team does improve while they are on the road. They will play some tough teams and, if they lose, I hope they still continue to play with enthusiasm and belief. Would love to see this team make the sweet 16, but really too soon to tell.

I know all the players are much smaller than they appear in their uniforms. I have seen pics in regular clothes and they are not big girls.....even kay-kay. Now, with that said, I have seen Maddie in street clothes and knew she was thin but she looked really thin tonight in her uniform.

Finally, I think we need all the players to do what THEY can do and not try to do what they can't. Coach Coale was proud of the team tonight but I thought they looked a little sloppy. I know that that can come with playing someone whom you are so much better than, but I was really hoping to see a little less dribbling out at the arc and a little more of taking it to the basket....So, still really enjoy these players and the depth and excited to see them get better. WHITNEY RITCHIE is the bomb!!

I have a feeling, based upon what we have all seen as well as Sherri's comments that Treece runs the court much better than ViVi but ViVi is stronger than Treece, we may be seeing ViVi close to normal, physically. I guess time will tell.

Considering ViVi is 9 months removed from an ACL tear, if we were grading on a curve I'd go with ViVi long term.

Right now, Treece has better game conditioning and stamina. Looks like OU is deliberately limiting ViVi to about ten minutes a game.
Both players are showing excellent post fundamentals for freshman.
Treece already starting to show a high post mid range game.
Treece's ceiling would appear to be a longer more athletic McFarland.

I'm rather curious as to how they will fit with Kay Kay and Nancy. I don't know that I envision Kay Kay and Vivi on the floor together. But, I can envision Treece on the floor with either Vivi or Kay Kay. Treece is deceptive. She doesn't look like she is dominating anything. Yet, she actually leads the team in blocks (3), and she has actually scored more than LaNesia (22-21) with a lot fewer minutes (31-55)! Curiously, LaNesia has more rebounds than Treece (14-13). But, Treece is more than holding her own on the boards. She and Vivi have 27 rebounds in 57 minutes. Contrast that with Kay Kay who has 18 rebounds in 55 minutes. They are better rebounders than Kay Kay. You just don't notice that McKenna is doing stuff like scoring quite a bit, blocking shots, and getting rebounds in a few minutes. She just doesn't look that tough. But, she is effective. And, she doesn't miss free throws (4-4).

Then, I look at what it would be like to have McKenna or Vivi on the floor with a 6-9 center. If you are concerned about a tall center, either Vivi or McKenna would kill you. They will feast on your power forward.

We may end up with a four-guard offense. But, then, we may not with those we have coming in. You never know when we will need more size on the floor. It is now an option.

syb,
and Mulkey in everything i have seen has a very good mid range jumper.
And let's not forget that OU has another super athletic PF/C incoming as well in
Ijeoma Odimgbe,

Best thing about both Vivi and Treece is that they have really good hands. We won't have the turnovers on passes to the post when any of our posts are down on the block. I think this team is going to be really fun to watch.

Next year, I expect we'll see two bigs on the floor at the same time most of the season. Campbell has been playing a pseudo-PF since she's been here. Next season the 3 bigs will all be back (and more experienced) as well as Ijeoma Odimgbe. Three 6-4's and a 6-3. And the following year the 6-3 is swapped out for a 6-9. Yikes !!

Unfortunately UT and Baylor are also stepping up their inside game as well.

I really like both Vivi and Treece a lot, and totally agree with Speedy about the soft hands point. Vivi appears more athletic, but Treece just has that warrior mentality to her. Hard to beliveve they are both just Frosh.

OU fans are going to love the next few years.
