Two Articles with Opposite Points of View

Izzo is one of the only top 10 coaches I think MIGHT be clean, but I have my doubts even with him. When all the dust is settled (if it ever is), Few is the only one I'd bet on being clean, and that's just me saying >50%.

So does this mean you think Bennett cheats, or that you don't consider him a top 10 coach? Either seems a stretch, that guy's reputation is squeaky clean and he has had a top 5 program for a number of years at a school that wasn't exactly a power when he arrived.

Is Bennett a top 10 coach right now? Possibly. Has he had a top 10 career (among active coaches)? Nope.

At this very moment, I'd pick Bennett over a guy like Boeheim, but his career pales in comparison. In terms of the clean vs not clean debate, I think career is more relevant.

While not considered a top 10 coach, Rick Barnes has not been implicated in any basketball crimes as far as I can recall. Born in Hickory, North Carolina, the 64 year-old Barnes is approaching 700 wins, as he now stands at 692–364 (.655).

Over 17 seasons at Texas, Rick Barnes was 402–180 (.691) overall; and 186–94 (.664) in the Big-12 Conference.

He is a pretty good coach and does not appear to be a cheater.

Just for fun, I tried to see if I could make a top ten list that excludes Bennett.

Wright, K, Calipari, Self, Izzo, Few, Williams.

I got 7 that are clearly better than him, so 8 is a best case scenario in my book. I could easily make a top ten list that excludes him, but 8-10 would be open to criticism.

But yeah, Bennett is a great coach that appears to be clean. One of the only ones.

i would be shocked if barnes did not make use of the system every bit as much as bill self has

love Izzo....

but I'll pull for 'burn...just to see Barkley go crazy...lol. I do like that dude.

Can Virginia be a Top 10 program if they go 25 years between Final Fours? Because that's what they did. OU went to three Final Fours over that span.

I think you're arguing with a ghost here. Nobody claimed UVA has been a top 10 program over the past 25 years -- in fact, quite the opposite.

Virginia is what Kelvin almost was. They are what we should aspire to be as a program in this age of basketball. This is Bennett's first Final Four (should've been second....2016 was a fluke loss to the Cuse), but he's putting up major banners: fourth regular-season ACC title and to go along with two tourney titles.

I admire what Virginia has done a great deal. Rock solid program with major support from the fanbase. And they play in a gorgeous new arena (relatively new). They're committed from the top on down.

And no JUCOs, probably because they have no hope of getting into UVA!
