Most had us a 5 or 6 seed before the TT game. OU hasn't been on the 4 seed line since after the OSU game/ before the ISU game.

Every loss hurts in terms of overall record but I think most are saying the La Tech loss hurts in terms of 1 more L/ 1 less W and the fact it was our worst loss in terms of RPI ranking before the Texas Tech loss. The Texas Tech loss hurts the most obviously because it was our worst loss and due to the relevance and recency of the loss. If you look at the seedings, it is pretty easy to say 1 loss = 1 line of seeding, minimum, for OU. OU is currently a 7 seed and only weeks ago we were a 4 seed. Since then we have lost 3 games and 3 lines of seeding. If OU's record today was 21-4 (beating TT, West Va, and La Tech), instead of 18-7, we would probably be a 3 or a 4 seed.

But if you take away the loss at KSU and go ahead and keep the loss against La Tech, we're probably in the same situation. So really the La Tech loss carries no more weight to the committee than any other loss right now. My whole argument was that the La Tech loss isn't actually a terrible loss when it comes to the post season. At least no more important than any other loss.

If you gave OU the La Tech win, I still think we'd be a 7 seed at this moment in time because of what we've done recently and that's how the comittee will view it too IMO.

To play devil's advocate, do you think many casual fans know Tubby Smith is Texas Tech's coach? lol

:ez-laugh: you win. Now if Tubby Techer keeps beating up on ranked (or previously ranked) opponents, maybe they'll sneak into bubble range and la tech can go back to being our crappy loss

KU lost to TCU last year on February 6th and then lost to OU 3 days later in Norman for a 3 game losing streak. They still earned a 1 seed.

I think your "1 loss = 1 line of seeding" is a ridiculous argument. One could also say "1 win = 1 line of seeding". So, if we win 7 games in a row, (and we are a 7 seed now as you state above) we are then a 1 seed, right? See how stupid that sounds?

LOL either way, I think it's safe to assume one of those teams is our worst loss of the season (so far) :D

More and more, it's not about who you lose to but who you beat when it comes to seeding.

W-L record against rpi top 50 is very important and really bad losses to teams rpi 250 plus are very damaging to the so-called resume. though, seems like there's a flow of criteria the "committee" uses for a few years, prioritizes....and then denies they are important. like last 10 games.

We aren't talking about KU last year. We are talking about OU this year, to this point. I said

That does not mean "for every team that has ever played basketball on planet earth". That means for OU, this year. Reading comprehension is key if you want to be an argumentative wart.

If one (I suspect it would be someone with a username referencing bodily excrement), said that the argument 1 win = 1 line of seeding because 1 loss = 1 line of seeding, then that person would have the cognitive reasoning of a 1st grader. Losses generally hurt more than wins count when it comes to basketball. That's why even though we have won 18 games, losing our seventh took away more than any 1 win has given us. Get it?

That is fair, but you only have so many chances for "quality wins", and you can't expect to win all of those. Overall record and quality wins are equally important and play hand in hand.

That single sentence I bolded proves just how dumb is your argument yet you keep defending it. :facepalm

You honestly think 1 win = 1 loss? No. Each loss counts against a team more than each win helps a team. We have earned our position by winning 72% of our games thus far. You can't move up or even hold steady by losing one for every game you win. This really isn't even up for discussion.

TYLER NEAL boys! Backing up his statements. Kyle Im not sure who pissed in your cornflakes but its going to be ok!

Where are you Kyle? Nothing to post about since we won?
