I'm curious as to what many on here think about his role on next year's team. Does Coach Kruger traditionally use a true two big offense? I see Tyler as a hybrid 4/3 and think he is going to have to get significantly stronger in order to rebound and defend at the level needed for this team to compete in the Big 12. I'm not sure he will ever be quick enough to play the three consistently, so I sure hope he bulks up over the summer.

Work hard, White Lightning! :neal

Weren't Kruger's UNLV teams of the smallish variety? It seems like I remember reading that there were some grumblings from the UNLV fan base because they perceived that Lon struggled to find a true post presence during his time there.

Another player that is a bit of a tweener. Not really big/physical enough to play inside. Not really quick enough or skilled enough (yet) to be a good wing.

One thing I hope LK can do through recruiting is land more kids that kid a definite role. I don't mind guys being able to play mutliple positions, but we shouldn't have so many players that we have to guess where they fit in.

I'm with you on that. Makes it easier for a kid to come in and know exactly what is expected of them as well...

I hope Lon wants a few 5th year seniors. TN will be better and stronger in yr 3,4 and 5.

This is one knock I've heard on him from the various talking heads here....that he struggled to consistently have really good bigs, and that his post substitution patterns left a little to be desired.

Having said that...good big men are hard to come by and I think that LK requires that they play smart and good defense.

I can't imagine the most talented of big men want to go to UNLV...or the most talented of any position for that matter. I give Lon a lot of credit for being able to be successful with what he had to work with at UNLV.

That's the starting 5 I hope emerges.

I like those players on the floor, but Clark is not a 2. Maybe if we're playing a team that doesn't pressure the ball up the floor.

I remember Alvin Adams and Stacy King. Big men are few and far between.

If Dave Sieger could play the 3, so can Neal.
Clark played way too many minutes this year.
Neal needs to give Clark about 10 minutes rest/game.

I hate that lineup. Too many players playing out of position. Terrible outside shooting. Terrible ball handling. No post offense. Defense is going to be bad b/c the three "guards" are all poor defenders for the spots you are starting them at.

JMO.

I like:

PG: Sam Grooms/Carl Blair
SG: Calvin Newell/Steve Pledger
SF: Cameron Clark/Tyler Neal
PF: Romero Osby/Andrew Fitz
C: Philip Jurick/Robert Goff

I think Neal is a 3, and Osby is a 4. His role will be to play on the wing next year and hit 3's.

Looks good. They key point is that we need to get more athletic and both our lineups accomplish that.

It is going to be an interesting b/c while you look at Neal, you think that he surely has to add some muscle and weight, but I think Kruger is going to try and get these guys to be more "flash towards the basket" type players. There is going to be a lot of running and hopefully less 3 point shooting.

Neal doesn't necessarily need to add weight, he needs to tone up and add some strength. Naturally he'll gain a little weight with added muscle but he doesn't need to bulk up. I think after an offseason with Yo-Yo we're going to see a leaner, faster, stronger Tyler Neal. Tyler 2.0!
