How did we let that guy get away? Seems to me we could really use him.

I *****ed about us not recruiting him when we had the chance. I have been watching him since he was a freshman in HS. I will never understand why Jeff didn't try and get him. He is a terrific athlete and shooter his whole life. He has always been marginal as a ball handler (for a guard) and I guess this is what has made him less marketable. it is the only thing I can think of.

While we are on the subject of kids we didn't get, have you guys seen the Wright kid at Tulsa play. Really good freshman big. I guess I just didn't follow that situation. He absolutely could play for us and is likely going to be a beast down the road. Does anyone know, did we recruit him and if not why not. If we did recruit him, why was it we couldn't out compete Tulsa. Don't get it. Heck, I like the woodard kid at Tulsa too, however, we signed 3 kids just like him and I can see how we might not have had a spot for him.

Wright missed his junior year of high school with a broken leg, then played at probably 75% effectiveness on the AAU circuit (he had so little explosiveness and looked stiff during the spring and summer). He picked up some high major interest (Oklahoma & Marquette), but mainly was being heavily courted by midmajors like Tulsa, SMU, Wichita St, etc. He went ahead and pulled the trigger and committed to Tulsa in August.

By the time high school season rolled away, he was 100% and looking a lot better. If he hadn't already signed with Tulsa, I suspect OU would've got involved. The kicker (for OU fans at least), Wright was a bit of an OU fan, so if he had never breaks his leg....

James Woodard is a kid that didn't pass some of the eye/measurable tests out of high school, and I think his heart/effort is something that ended up being overlooked (at least I did).

Tulsa got a couple steals with those two.
