Updated 2016 Ranking

WOW.. she must be off to a bad summer

ESPN is full of it. I've seen enough of several of those players to know how they stack up.

Does anyone have any insight as to why OU is not in the running for A Wilson? Listening to her, it would appear that she wants to be "part of building a program", rather than becoming a part or a contributor. Thoughts?

Good question. I like her a lot. She has the athletic ability of a Gioya with the never letup determination of a DRob. With Llanusa, Ortiz, and Wilson, I assure you we would have a great backcourt.

ESPN ranks players on a number of factors, but it appears one of the most important is "does the player live in a state where they have a major contract presence". Just another example where Joe C's decision to sign us up with Fox hurts us with ESPN - a big player in sports reporting.

Note how many players from Texas are on the list. ESPN needs to advertise their "product" whenever they can.

But part of the issue is Chelsea transferred schools and as a newcomer competing for time with the coach's daughter, had a hard time displaying her best skills.

About half the girls on a list like this will disappear when they get to the college level. What happens at that time is the measuring stick. Chelsea will be able to determine where she should rank in a couple of years. Don't worry about it. Time will tell.

I would doubt you'd find a coach anywhere and in any sport that would be concerned with ESPN's ratings because of a television contract. Program exposure, maybe. But recruiting, highly doubtful. I'd expect 99% of coaching staffs, in any sport, able to evaluate players better than ESPiN, or whoever they hire to do so.

I don't recall her ever being ranked as low as 49th, but I admit I don't spend much time/effort looking at rankings like this. Tulsa World must have had some reason for using that number.

I was almost positive she was ranked #49 before I found that article. It isn't like I go around trying to memorize rankings but I paid attention to her after I saw her play. She is impressive. BlueStar has her ranked #21 and I sure wouldn't argue with that.

If someone is ranked high and none of the top programs have offered, there is usually a reason why. The reverse is also true. If a player is ranked lower but has offers from ND, Tenn, and S. Car., there is a high degree of probability the kid can play.

#1 Have to consider the source , the team, etc on these rankings. ESPN is full of it. They are so inaccurate it's ridiculous. Anyone knows who runs the ESPN rankings? I've never trusted any ranking site but prospects nation is more accurate IMO

I think ESPN does a pretty good job for the most part on the top 20 girls in the country as they normally agree with coaches like Geno, Muffet, Staley, etc. After that, they miss pretty often. But, so do coaches which is indicative that recruiting is not an exact science, especially when you get past the "can't miss" players.

That said, I like Prospects Nation pretty well too.

Just got word from a very reliable source that Wilson is down to 5 in no particular order

Baylor
Texas A&M
Louisville
Kentucky
Arkansas.

Looks like the Sooners are out.

I hope she doesn't go to Baylor.

I don't know how accurate it is, that was just a list that someone gave me by hear say who is good friends in the Tulsa area. I still have a feeling the Sooners are out. You never know some players lists change everyday.
