The committee really sucked this year. Those old bald farts all need to be replaced.

Pretty sure its a different committee every year or every couple of years.....but I think they did pretty well, I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I agree. I waffled on my pick for UTEP/Butler quite a bit. Very interesting matchup.

My point is that UTEP and Butler are very good mid majors who should not be eliminating one another in the opening round.

Let UTEP play Texas A&M, not another mid major. These two teams are legit sweet 16 caliber teams and pairing them against each other screws one of them.

I think Purdue will handle Sienna.

Usually the couple games in which everyone and their dog picks the "underdog," the upset doesn't come to fruition.

The actual one's to look out for are: Georgia Tech (modest upset), Murray State, Old Dominion, and Wofford. I won't include 8/9 games as they are coin flips.

Vanderbilt better be ready to play vs. Murray State, they are dangerously balanced.

I think I picked an upset for Wofford. The Murray St. game was a tough pick, wouldn't surprise me at all to see them win.

The selection committee did a bad job this year, kansas has a the most difficult road to the final four and gave duke an easy bracket.

bocabull, i agree with your post....thats what i thought when i saw the mathups announced.

I'm having trouble picking the Purdue/Sienna game. Purdue really is struggling without Hummel; that game is a toss-up IMO.

I agree about Murray State. There was a stat shown that over the last 10 years almost every team that held their opponents to under 40% and shot over 50% FG's made it to the Final 4. Murray State has accomplished both aforementioned stats; not saying they're going to the Final 4, but I think they can make a nice run in the tourney.

There isn't a year goes by that Dook isn't given an easy path.

two years ago though, the committee did the same thing. it was butler vs. south alabama, and drake vs. western kentucky in the first round. there was criticism then of making the small conference schools play each other. i hate it and agree with boca. but the committee is not going to change. they want the little guy to be done before the sweet 16, and definitely elite 8. no more george masons of the world.

and duke did get some benefits because the acc is so weak. i guess kansas and kentucky got some tough draws. but no team like kansas should have the easiest bracket and get to play close to home at okc and st. louis. i like the balance, if you can call it that.

UTEP will walk the floor with Butler. I think this year was much harder than other years to seed teams, although I agree Duke was given the easy rode and KU was given the toughest. Should have been the exact opposite.
