Another 100+ point output. I am liking this. :OUbball-logo:

Me, too! The way I see it, there's a lot to like about the stats in today's game, and this team. Six players in double figures; Bennett with 14 points, 13rebs and 5 blocks; Cam with another 20 points plus game.

Not bad for a bunch of guys who are supposed to be offensively-challenged this season.

Anyone else see this team playing next season like Iowa State has the past few seasons?

Lots of three's and transition offense feeding off aggressive D? It seems like our lack of size and depth inside are forcing us that way.

Which isn't to say Bennett and Spangler are bad, they aren't, but that's literally all we have.

This team will be better defensively last years Iowa State team and I doubt the 3 pt shooting will be as good. If they will be be willing passers like that group was, it might not be far off. They will run this year.

There are high school teams in Oklahoma and possibly Delaware or maybe even North Dakota that are better than the team they just played. However, its still cool seeing them all get on the same page this early in the season.

I think most of us will agree that the competition on this trip is easily a step or two below the teams we'll face this year. Still, I can't help but be encouraged by the point you made in your last sentence. This team appears to have a special chemistry, a togetherness we don't usually see before the season gets underway.

Lon's first team struggled nearly the entire season before they finally started to look like a real college basketball team. I remember conversations on this board when members voiced their frustrations with the lack of unity on both ends of the floor, and that was late in the season, not before it began.

We may have to wait a while to find out if the encouraging signs we're seeing now are indicative of what we can expect when the competition improves. I understand that completely, and I believe others do, too. But, as I said before, there is a lot to like about what this team has demonstrated so far.

Do we know that? Mightn't yesterday's opponent compare to, say, a Rookie League or Single A team in minor league baseball? I mean, they're being paid to play.

I don't have a clue how good the team we played yesterday was. I wish I did; it's a bit frustrating not knowing. But someone posted that an average-at-best Oregon State team beat them by 17 last year, so if we're already thirty points better than a team like last year's OSU squad, I'll take it. (I know, I know -- comparing scores, especially a year apart, is a silly exercise.)

I'll be glad to see our first exhibition game in November. It'll tell us more than these five games, surely.

I have no idea the quality of teams that OSU played last year in Spain (low, no doubt), but I remember one team, an "all-star" team they played had a guy who was in his 40's playing on it, who played at Baylor back in the late 80's. But, as everyone has said, I think it's 99% the experience, the practice, etc... that made it valuable, not the soupcans these teams play.

I think you're right.

The only thing that is good about this is that they got practice time with the coaches and got to play some basketball against other teams. Obviously the competition is a joke. OU traveled overseas to play against NAIA competition.

It would have been nice to have been able to see them play though.

I think they will get a good deal more from this than they could have from ordinary gym practice.
