Way too early top 25

Perfectly fine with no OU. Let's sneak up on em.

Weren't we unranked going into the 2001-2002 season when we went to the Final Four?

Guy is clueless, didn't even have OU in his "honorable mentions." OU may sneak up on these media guys next year, but not Vegas. OU opened at 30-1 to win the National Title next year. Only 14 teams with better odds.

I saw that the other day. I can't imagine a 20-loss team ever having better odds than 30 to 1 the following season. The advanced metrics say ou was much better than their record and Trae should help hah!

I like going into the season as an underdog " not worthy of any respect" by the experts. That will make our players hungry for recognition and make them play with a chip on their shoulder.

That is correct. The way the pollsters looked at it, we just lost tons of shooting with Nolan Johnson, JR Raymond (dismissed late in previous season), Kelley Newton and Tim Heskitt. Hollis was (at that time) a good, but not great player and Ace McGhee was only slightly better than average. The incoming talent consisted of three juncos and a transfer from a small school.

Well, the light came on for Ace, Hollis slid over to the two and became one of the best players in the country, and Quannas quickly became the best OU PG since Mookie. I wish every year we could have best-case scenarios with three different players. For this coming season, I'd be ecstatic if we can have one or two best-case scenarios. If that happens, we'll be playing deep into March.

You guys see KS added quannas White to his Houston staff

Sampson, now has his son Kellen, to go with Quannas, and former head coach of Houston, Alvin Brooks. Bet the intensity level at the gym is higher than the humidity level in Houston. Talk about a passionate group of coaches. Would not surprise me if Sampson has the players pickup half court man to man walking to class each day.

I get the feeling Sampson like's where he's at in Houston. The familiarity with the Rockets, loyal staff, recruiting hotbed , and at a place that fits his underdog mentality. I think Houston is lucky to have him. Always thought he might head back East some day if the right offer presented itself.

Also, after glancing over Alvin Brooks bio, He led 10th Seed Lamar to the Sweet sixteen by knocking off number 5 seed Oregon St. How times have changed for the beavers. He was selected by the Spurs in the 10th round of the 81 NBA draft. 10th round? I'm assuming thats correct and the draft has changed post expansion but I found that interesting.
