Oregon was ranked ahead. Oregon is probably the better team between the two. Yet, OU got the nod. You can only attribute that to Oklahoma being a big name in the college football scene.

Oregon finished in a virtual tie with OU, logging two more points than the Sooner -- 880-878 -- which can probably be attributed to the ever-classy Mike Gundy and some other knucklehead coaches voting oswho ahead of OU the day after the aggies lost to the Sooners at home.

Oregon lost two of its last four games -- one of them in a rout to 7-5 Arizona -- and squeaked by a 6-6 Oregon State squad by a single point in their regular-season finale.

That's called limping into the bowl season. You can say Oregon is a better team, but there's not all that much evidence to back that up.

Throw in the distance Ducks fans would have had to travel to reach New Orleans and yes, OU's vastly superior tradition, and it wasn't remotely a tough call for the Sugar Bowl execs.

I agree with you. I'm an OU fan. I just didn't get his argument is all. I wasn't trying to be negative towards OU. Sorry if it came off as that. I was just saying OU's name definitely played a part in going to the Sugar Bowl. All of what you just said is 100% true. But the BCS didn't force the Sugar Bowl's hand into taking OU.

Funny how a couple years change things (as I've probably mentioned before). We've gone from Mizzou can't compete in the SEC. They'll be lucky to occasionally be in the middle tier. to Yeah, Mizzou won 11 games, but their schedule was so easy. They would've been lucky to finish 3rd in the BCS.

But let's get back to the real point: TV. I found this interesting:

The word compete would suggest that occasionally the said team would win the league. Missouri couldn't compete in the Big 12, and just like on the big stage in the Big 12 they got humiliated in the SEC's big stage, after losing to the only other good team, at home, in their disastrous division. Missouri beat one ranked team the entire season, and that was 8-4 A&M at home in a nail-biter.

Nothing has changed for Mizzou. And when Georgia and especially Florida, and even Tennessee get back to their standard, Mizzou will be the 4th to 5th best in their own division.

But hey, at least they got OU off the schedule. It was clear they weren't ever going to win their first league title since the 60's staying in the Big 12.

Yeah, we stole several Big 12 titles from them. What really twisted the knife was the fact that KU avoided us their *dream season*, so Jayhawk got the Orange Bowl, and Mizzou got two losses to us
