"The Sooners have done a nice job regaining a spot in the top half of the Big 12. Any jump of this magnitude -- S-curve No. 31, Preseason No. 65 -- is worth celebrating. However, it must be noted that Oklahoma has beaten only one likely NCAA-bound team (Oklahoma State) and that the upcoming schedule is a good bit tougher. I believe the Sooners have peaked and that we are more likely to see them in the NIT than the NCAA tournament."

Ouch.

He's been wrong before. What that tells me is he hasn't really watched us play much this season.

Then why would he have us in his bracketology? Hopefully this ends up in the locker room, and how can he say that OSU is tourney bound when they sit at 2-3 and still have the meat of their schedule to go.

As has been said before, our final record in conference isn't as important as who we beat. We need some quality wins (KU, KSU, Baylor) to get a bump. The Big XII is crappy this year.

He obviously did the same RPI math projections we discussed in my other thread and sees us finishing in the 10-8 range in conference which would mean a 1-7 record vs remaining top 90 teams.

It's hard to say if we can prove him wrong & finish better. We have to keep improving our consistency. We play like a top 20 team for stretches & like an nit team for stretches.

Keep working!

Is there any chance Texas A&M is a tourney team? I know they don't have a great record, but they're 12-5 with a win at Kentucky.

This stuff changes from week to week. This is why we can't get too high or low on these guys. Think about all the love we were getting last week when we had just beaten OSU... And now, because we lose @KSU, we have "peaked, and we are more likely to see them in the NIT than in the NCAA Tournament"? Please, lets let the games play out, and then make decisions on whether this team is for real.

I also think that CampBest is right, we need some "statement" or "Big" wins. These next 5 will give us that opportunity. A win @Baylor, KSU or @ISU and then Lunardi will be changing his tune.

He could be right with the schedule getting real tough. But either way I like our future a lot right now.

We need more quality wins. Baylor, KU, K-St, OSU...And we need OSU to shape up b/c if they don't get better than beating OSU doesn't help either. Losing to SFA really hurt us.

At least we didn't lose to any NAIA teams like Chaminade. :ez-laugh:

Honestly, we could miss the tourney at 10-8 and I'd be thrilled with this year. I love what Lon is doing and love the outlook for years to come.

Honestly, I would pay a lot more attention to what Jerry Palm infers on CBS rather than Lunardi. I am much more inclined to take Palm's commentary seriously not only because of his track record, but also because he was initially an RPI pioneer.

We shall see. I think OU is a long way from peaking. Osby is playing great. The defense is strong. The ball movement is good. Hield is very good. M'Baye is coming on strong. Hornbeak, Cousins, Clark, Grooms and Fitzgerald are palying well. If Pledger gets hot, I think this team can be a Sweet 16 team.

Why is OSU, a team we beat up and down the court just over a week ago, "a likely tournament team," but we're not despite that and having a better record?

The beautiful thing in all of this is we have the chance to take care of our own business, and we can play ourselves in or out of the Big Dance. I'm leaning towards in with the way the team is getting better...

I actually think he's right. BUT, that said, I think we're on the right track.

Hey Joe,

Stick to the computers and formulas, and let the actual espn analysts make the bold predictions.

Kthanksbye
